ERNEST WILLIAMS World and American History, Democracy Loyalty to FRHS is indeed shown by our history teacher, Mr. Ernest Williams, by this, his fifteenth year of teaching here. Mr. Williams is also a very faithful fol- lower of the Recovery Indians, and he is the timekeeper for the team each game. MR. HAROLD KNAPKE Principal, Advanced Math Mr. Harold Knapke is pictured here en- gaged in one of his primary interests, bowl- ling. Besides serving as principal of FRHS, Mr. Knapke has partnership in the local "Miracle Lanes." Drawing is one of the favorite pastimes of Mrs. Jean Spencer, our home economics teacher. Mrs. Spencer graduated from the University of Kentucky with a B.S. deree. MR. WILLIAM TREMPER Latin and Math During his limited free time Mr. Trempet enjoys bowling and fishing. Before this, his first year of teaching at FRHS, he attended St. Meinrod Seminary for nine years and graduated from Bowling Green. MR. JAMES PRICE Science, Chemistry, Biology, Physics Mr. Price besides being the most popular bach- elor in FRHS during the '59-'60 school season is head of the science department. He graduated from the University of Dayton in l95'7. He is also advisor to the sophomore class this year. MRS. THELMA MERTZ. Mr. Brown teaches Drivers Train- ing and Business Law. He is also advisor to the junior class. MR. EDWARD BROWN Vocational Agriculture A great enthusiast of all sports is Mr. Brown, our Vocational Agriculture teacher. He is the proud owner of an airplane, a Cessna 140. His wife and two sons, Danny and David, are his most treasured posses- sions. MR. JAMES MOELLER Head of Music Department This year's band, stepping livelier and peppier, is under the direction of a new di- rector, Mr. James Moeller. Mr. Moeller has enlarged the band, added new instru- ments and is working diligently to attain the goal enabling the purchase of new uniforms for the FRHS band. Candidates for membership in the Fort Recovery High School Chapter must have a scholastic average of 90 or higher. Scholarship, serv- ice, leadership and character are the basic qualities sought for in candidates. Ten per cent of all Juniors and fifteen per cent of all Seniors are eligible for this club. S. two juniors were chosen to represent Fort Recovery High at the Dayton Daily News Junior League Youth Forum. Miss Ioan Long and Mr. Jerry Kaiser took the comprehensive tests May 14 at the University of Dayton. Ioan quali- fied for the finals and went back to U. D. for a per- sonal interview and further testing. Although neither will participate in the forum next year, we're proud to have had these two juniors representing the school. . . Each year all of the students of Fort Recovery High School enter the American Legion Essay Con- test. This year not only were awards given to two winners in each grade, but to three people who won the county contest, Miss Mary Ellen Schoenlein, freshman, and Miss Martha Homan and Mr. Lawrence Heitkamp, seniors.
