fl XSS IIIQTUPX Mildred Largent With bright and happy faces beaming with pleased and expectant antxcr patron, the class of I9 substantial in number and comely in face and figure entered that eminent educational domain known as F M H S We were some what dismayed at the fleeting and disdainful glances bestowed upon us by the upper classmen who straightway forgot our existence that is most of them did except some enamored by the charms of some of our flowers of feminmty land otherwise, who found it not easy to do so and by the almost stern gaze filled with malicious intent which our natural Cas we soon uncomfortably ascertamedj enemies the Sophomores fastened upon us Everyone then proceeded to leave us helpless Cso they thoughtj to wend our unhappy way along unfamiliar paths It did not take us long to overcome this handicap as a result of their neglect consequently we were not the infants public opinion seemed wont to deem us but very self reliant young beings This commendable acquirement is still one of our prominent points' Nevertheless we lived through this year of grilling experiences with minds weighted OJ with knowledge and hearts care free and pleasure filled for we had not lacked rn that element called social instinct Speak to divert our instructors as well as ourselves' New and novel sensations during this period were numerous in fact too numerous to mention all But I m sure that an event that will remain intact in all our minds is our first class festivzty given on Hallowe en 1915 Another incident that will not be forgotten either by ourselves or our stern visaged Sophomore friends is the brutal and pitiless man ner in which we were so thoroughly frightened on Commencement Night of that same year We did swallow the desire to shriek however with due apologies to our Superrors in rank Needless to mention more' Likewise some of our bravest summoned enough courage by this time to venture across the front of the Assembly Hall without any visible quakes of fear at the scathing remarks in hissing undertones thrust at us by those aforementioned Superrors The appellations Freshie and Green no longer caused us to lose a whit of our usual calm composure or to blush furiously at the slight as was our natural desire Ah' Many were the laughs we received when it became known that we had chosen Silver and Green for our class colors' Another element not lacking in our make up was the unusual ability of some of our men in athletics In football the principal form of athletics in F M 76 N1 1 Y ' J Al K n n X I . - , . . , .
