Class Prophecy CCPC OOD CPC OPEL SSPE ®CD CCCPCPEC CE CEP ODSEOROPPSDDEPEEEP PS °SSSS ESSE EEE Sepa I, one of the prospectors, have been asked to tell you something about the Goal Rush of ’49. I shall tell you what will happen to the ’49ers as we go toward our Goal Success. The future looked bright as we left the auditorium after graduation. Dorothy Rinker and Irene Kimble decided to leave us, in order to be married. Ah, yes, there's a ship sailing for a foreign port, and who is it’s cap- tain? Why, none other than our Darell Boatman. After many days over rough seas, Darell’s ship docks in South Africa. As the captain walks down the gang-plank, he is surprised to encounter Alan Whitacre who is now a well known missionary in the Belgium Congo. Alan informs the captain that one of his passengers on the return trip will be Bud Dyer, who has been on a big game hunt in Africa. Finally the ship again docks, but this time in New York. Here, Bud is met by Maynard Davis, who is now head of a large concern known as, “Buck’s Taxi-cab Service.”’ Buck’s motto is, “No trip too short or too long.” We will visit Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. We find it hasn’t taken Doctor Victor Long much time to reach the top. He is now a skilled and well known doctor. Doctor Long is surrounded by a group of nurses, two of whom are Jean Marker and Dottie Twigg. They are listening eagerly as he propounds to them the effect and theory of a brand new drug. This drug was discovered by Dr. Danny Whitacre, the world’s greatest scientiest since Einstein, and his able assistant Dr. Dal- vin Wagoner. Yes, dear classmates, Danny and Dalvin dicovered all too late a drug which will do your own thinking for you. Now, let us return closer home, and see what our ’49ers are doing. Fort Ashby has really grown-up since we last saw it. Many fine homes have been built, no doubt by a well-known carpenter, Harry Lee Cum- berledge, and contractor, “Tommie” Davis. Ray Elder, a prosperous farmer, now owns a large farm close the Dan’s Run District. I see we have a law office here in Fort Ashby, and of course the law- yer is none other than Carl Davis. He is assisted by his efficient secre- tary, Helen Funk, who stays late at night, “working,” she says. There is also a Central Telephone Exchange in Fort Ashby, with a number of telephone operators employed, one of whom is Tina Kimble, “but where is Nina,” we ask? Tina sighs and shows us a recent picture of Nina and a new set of twins. Let us now visit our “Ole Alma Mater.” We find many changes have been made, one of whom is a new coach. “Coach” Charles Ornduff is pre- paring to take his team to the University of Morgantown to play in the basketball finals. His wife (the former Erma Welch) will take over his Physical Education classes for the day. Two of our classmates, Phyllis Sampson and Evelyn Lease, are tak- ing over the school-lunch program in the cafeteria. We were able to attend a P. T. A. meeting while we were visiting. One of the main speakers of the evening was Jack Smith (who is presi- dent of the P. T. A.). He told of his experiences as an Agricultural Teach- er. Before we left, we visited Mr. Judy, and found Dolores Lark, acting as secretary to the principal. As I’m scheduled to go on duty at 11 p. m., I’ll have to leave you, and don my uniform. Doris Householder
