SOPHOMORE CLASS Last year school saw the Sophomore class small but with the same members of last years freshman class back again. About the middle of the first semester, they re- ceived one new member, Dale Moore, formerly of Fort Hill. Athletics found the Sophemorms taking active part. When Football season came around, Don Franklin, Jimmy Davis, Fay Elder and Leonard Evans were playing on the High School Football Team. Including Dale Blauch, they also played on the boys basketball team. The girls also entered athletics. Shirley Alkire, Grace Shafer, Mary Lee Burger and Edith Malone appeared many times on the Girls Basketball team. On February 29th the Sophomore's entertained the High School with an assembly given in honor of the two great Americans George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The Glee Club under the direction of Miss Pownall gave an operetta Days O'Kerry Dancing in which Grace Shafer, Marion Umstot, Ethel Hepner, Shirley Alkire, Mary Lee Burger, Loretta Decker, Madeline O'brien and Wanda Kesner, appeared as Star Fairies. The main objective of the Sophomore class this year was to make money for the class treasury. The salesmen hope the other students of Fort Ashby High School have enjoyed the potato chips as much as they have appreciated their money. Loretta Decker
