In September 1933, three of the present seniors, Frank Walker, Jack Alkire, and Marion Abe put forth their courage and climbed the steps to the little white school-house at Fort Ashby where they were welcomed by Miss Etta Dunn, who enrolled them in the Primer Class now known as kindergarten. Here,. they remained for the first grade welcoming one new meaber Hilda Kimble, who had attended primer class at the Horseshoe School, with Miss Pauline Duling as instructor. These four members hed conquered the three R's and were entering the mysteries of the second grade when Billy Frase joined then. Billy attended Dixie in the first grade, went pack to Dixie in the third grade, but rejoined us in the fourth, and has remained with us ever since. The fifth grade brought us another new member, Ronald May, who journeyed here from the Pennsylvania Avenue School, Cumberland, Md. No nore nembers of the present class joined until the seventh grade, which found us with four nec cones, Wayne Logsdon and Pat Jenkins coming from Pattersons Creek, where, Wayne spent his first six years. While in school there, he was joined by Pat Jenkins in the fourth grade--Pat having spent his first two years in the Mohegan Graded School, Mo- hegan, West Virginia, and the third year in Davy School, Davy, West Virginia. At the same time, Glenwood Emmart entered from Short Gap, where he had completed the first six years of his schooling. Donald Larson also became one of us when he moved here from Ridgeley, where he especially liked his first grade teacher, Miss Clark.
