CIASS POE Fort Ashby High we leave your protection, With a feeling for you of the warmest affection, At the thought of leaving a sadness appears, For the joy you have given us through the years Far surpasses all the joy we know Wetll find in the future as we come and go. Each one of us will go his way, But our thoughts will travel day by day, Round the windim; road, to the top of the hill, Where we find a hearth welcome still. We enter in but alas, alack! We miss those faces when looking back, Of the friends we knew those few short years, We recall them each one----and here come the tears. The scene from the hilltop is really a treet, Very picturesque. A view so complete, When glancing upward, out the window, and then lookins The blue sky envelopes the minature town, And what is that waving so proudly above? It is what we fight for, honor, and love. Our country's banner aloft in the breeze, Combining its rythm with evergreen trees. In the halls and classrooms are many new faces, We realize that they have taken our places. Classes are taught and are sent avey, : Happiness should reign on Commencement Day, For tmt which we've long striven, to win, Has taught us We finish to begin. , ° We've studied these years to better prepare, For the road ahead and what lies out there, Our class motto has a challenge unfurled, Not for ourselves only, but for the whole world. It grieves us to leave our Alm Mater fair, To enter a world of greed and despair, But as we go forth into the fray, Whether at work or at our play, Let us bring honor to this our school, Our standard being The Golden Rule. The time has come we must be on our way, The class of '45 has this to say, A world of good luck and of happiness too, As we bid farewell------farewell to you! Loy Lou Welch
