“At the beginning of the eighth grade we found we had a charming, teacher, Miss Botty Jane Rehlmeyer, The same year Virginia Lee Pyles, who had spent three months of the first grade at Virginia Aveme, the remainder of her El- ementary School days at Johneon Heights, and her seventh grade at Fort Hill, decided to take her place with us. In the ninth- grade we had three home-room teachers, Mr. Gerald Menefee, Miss Helen Criner, and Miss Flora Sweoker. The tenth grade found us with Mr. Ralph Kittle as sponsor, while our Junior year.introduced us to Miss Peninnah Goldsworthy. Our Senior year, has been directed by Miss Helen Hannas Pownall, who has been Senior Class sponsor since F. H. S. was established. We note with a great deal of concern that many others who started with us have fallen by the way-side or left us for other schools. Briefly they are: Paul Beaver-Navy; Bill Beaver-Navy; Lula Weaver-Celanese; Daisy Al- dridge-Ureline Academy; Calvin Dayton-Farmwork; James Fitchett-Army; Burmice Wheeler-Celanese; Elizabeth Troutman=Celanese; Ava Kuykendall-Employment un- known; Mary Davis-Housework; Jeanette Shaffer Pyles-Parsons High School; Elmer Rader-State Road;.Mary Kuykendall-Employment unknown; Dorothy Robin- son-Housework; Lindberg Kimble-B 0; Edgar Golden-Farmwork; Samuel Lech- liter-Navy; Lawerance Weaver-Kelly; Georgia Lechliter-Woolworths; Ral- eigh Chaney Army; Paul Glaze-B O Railroad; James Lewis-Army; Max Willison- War Plant at Pearl Harbor; James Adame-Celanese; Gearld Null-Merchant Ma- rine; Helen Lease-Celanese; Marie Lease-Celanese; Hilda Starliper-Housewife; Marvin Logsdon-Kelly; Donald Long-Army; Naomi Martin-Baltimore, Md.; Lula Koontz-Employment unknown; Madeline Staggs-Yaitress at McCoole Resturant; Richard Decker-Wolfe Milling Company; Henry Ross-Navy; Thomas Cook-Armny3 ees po geben unknown; Macel Yokum-Kelly; and Theda Stelle-Keyser H School. The members of the Senior Class, being a Wartime group have said good- bye to one of the Senior boys, Winton Hershberger, as he went to join the Navy. To him we send the best of luck. ° We were first affected by Peace Time Conscription in 1941 when Mr. Ver- non Ellifritz left us, and again we felt the pain of parting when we said farewell to our home-room teacher, Mr. Gerald Menefee, and Mr. John Foley, our atheletic coach. Represented in our class are pupils who have Bone to fiftven schools. The Senior girl's mode of dressing is skirts, sweaters, anklets and loafers. The boys wear sport sweaters, open collars and slacks. Our class motto is Not for Ourselves Only, but for the “hole World, and our flower is the red rose bud. The senior class colors are red and white. The members of the faculty of '45 are: Miss Helen Hannas Pownall, Eng- lish and French; Mr. Paul GC. Rouzer, Principal; Miss Peninnah Goldsworthy, Commercial Studies and English; Miss Dorothy Haines, Home Economics and Bi- ology; Mrs. Laura Marks, Mathematics, Science and Algebra; Miss Flora Sweck- er, Sooial Sotence, and Mr. Benedict Simoncelli, Physical Education and Chemistry. With these facts concerning the history of the Seniors of '45 the class historian bids everyone a fond farewell and hopes that the olass of '46 will Graduate in a time of peace.
