Tho vhool of lifo has boon whirling swiftly. During ‘the yoars 1939-1940 overyono belonged to tho junior class at Ridgeloy, with Mr. Raymond Sticlkloy and Mr, Harvey Oates as class advisors. Tho junior class ther consistod of somo sixty studonts » A class play hos boon prosentod ovory year since the froshinen class of 1937 sponsored Gay. As sophomores Laugh Clovm was vresented. The juniors gave Mammats Baby Boy.” With Miss Pownall as class officer, the seniors are working on a play, The Tin Hero. The twelfth grade really has something of which to be ar- rogant as we are tho first seniors to graduate and constitute high school at Fort Ashby. As we must all rind our occups- tions in the world, everyone has considered his or her ability for a career. With tho first basketball team at Fort Ashby two senior boys, Kenneth Malone and James Wetzel, helped to make up the squad, ‘We've also starred in the literary world. Kenneth Malone debated in the U. P. Le A. at Petersburg, Jean Bowers won second place in debate and Botty Flickinger fourth place in poetry reading at Potomac State College. Tho first seniors of Fort Ashby have had the experience of hearing the Inaugural Address of the third-term Presicent Roosevelt. Tho peace time draft was of no concern to us until 1941, when one of our belovod teachers, Mr, Vernon Ellifritz, was drafted for the army. These incidents will go dowm in history for seniors of the future to study. The following teachers have been added to our faculty: Miss Tonry, Coach Foley, iirs. Tabler, and Mir. Curry.
