Finally the first sophomore class at Fort Ashby | Loe Ward, who previously atcendod Fairviow School, and Junior ie Brelsford at Short Gap beforo enrolling in the Fort Ashby School, All the seniors at prosont mado up the moemborship of tho class oxcopt Kornoth Malono,who has attonded Dixic, Cumbor- ss school ot Fairviow, Keysor, aad Short Gap; Mildred Blauch who |) has attendod Goorgos' Run and Short Gap Schools;and Dimplo Abo ' who joinod tho Ridgoloy Sophomores, Edith Kimble thon wont to | Koysor School. ee ae FT eee 4 ae —eements ad ew dns PE ——————————— — -- CLASS ‘HISTORY In September 1929, three of the eighteen seniors, Mildred Hammer, Dimple Abe, and James Wetzel, ventured timidly toward the little white schoolhouse at Fort Ashby with Miss Etta Dunn as teacher, and Mr. Charlee Hiser as principal. These three students had willingly learned to read and write, when they entered the second grade with the same teacher. The third year Jean Bowers, having skipped a grade,joined the class with lirs, Sallie Wetzel as teachor. Another student, Joyce Wagoner,hav- ing attended three grades at Garland School, joined the class as we wero enrolling for the fourth grade. As the class went from the fifth to the sixth grade, Lynn Poland having attended first and second grades at the Abe School, third and one-half of the fourth grade at Dixie, one-half of the fourth and fifth at Dan's Run, and Edith Kimble, four grades at Reeses Mill, fifth at Davis, were wolcomed to Fort Ashby. The pupils were proud to think they wore in junior high school and still happier after being met at the door by Hr, Lowe, principal of the school, who introduced our ¢lass offi- cer, Miss Evelyn Bright. During the second semester of the seventh grade,Betty Flickinger, who attended Pennsylvania Ave- nue School in Cumberland, became a momber of our class. Mr, Lowo is still the pleasing principal of Fort Ashby School, The learners passed quickly on through the eighth and ninth grades and at this time Richard Broome, having attended Patterson Creek School, united with use Again we found September bringing good old school days. consisted of students from Short Gap, Patterson Creek, and Reoses Mill.
