What got us there was teamwork. The ability of three hundred individuals to function as one. This book is dedicated to the crew which has demonstrated teamwork in countless ways and made the Forrest Sherman one of the best ships in the Navy. This 23 year old destroyer is 4I8 feet long and displaces more than 4000 tons. She was built in Bath, Maine in I953 and christened by Mrs. Forrest P. Sherman, wife of the late Admiral. The first crew to board the Forrest Sherman in l955 must have had the same spirit of teamwork as well as every crew since then. That is why the ship has proven herself time and time again.
