Football player of the year was announced. Jo Jo Hartsfield was elected. Close by was, Bear Manning, who got first runner-up. Jeff Higgins got second runner-up also by a close vote. The student body and faculty was proud of the winners. The Seniors of 79 won the Burn the Bird contest by a close margin. Then Friday on October 20 Forest Park Beat Jonesboro 18-13. They played hard and this game was considered the game of the year by most. On Saturday Oct. 21 the homecomng dance was held. Everybody enjoyed themselves and disco d to a great band. Fran Clark was elected Homecoming Oueen. Her princesses were Lana Goss and Wendy Twllley. All of the court worked very hard and should be honored. On October 27 the Panthers lost to Fayette County 27-7. The month ended and those who worked on the homecoming in any way did a fantastic job. 17 During the month of August everyone prepared for the annual sophomore orientation. Booths were set up, tour guides prepared, and Student Council wrote their speeches. Juniors and Seniors led the Sophomores around the school building preparing them for the first day. Co-Ed Y won first place for their booth. Everything turned out great and there was a fantastic turnout. S . eptember was a busy month at FPSH. Class meetings were held and all the I h c asses s owed their panther spirit. The first weekend of Sept. was Labor Day and the holiday was enjoyed at FPSH. Forest Park played their first game on Sept. 2 the panthers played Newnan and lost 14-2. On Sept. 8 the panthers came back and beat Heritage 7- 6. The victory pepped the spirit of the whole student body. During the next week Student Council elections were held. The homeroom representatives were chosen with care and this made this year's Student Council the best ever. On Sept. 16 the panthers defeated Lagrange 34-22. The skill of Forest Park Sr. High marked this game. By the second week of Sept. clubs were beginning to form and spirit aroused. The Student Council also had a special cookout to get all the representatives together. On Sept. 22 the panthers were defeated by Morrow, 17-11. Homecoming court elections were being held. The young ladies nominated had their hopes high. On Sept. 29 Forest Park's luck and skill came through with a victory of 13-7 over North Clayton. students at FPSH were extremely busy by the end of September building floats and preparing for the great event - Homecoming.
