On the gloomy afternoon of Novemher 1. Forest Lakes eleven met their match in a hig. rugged Minneapolis
Southwest squad. With the winning touchdown play being called hack in the final seconds. down the drain went the
Rangers' dreams of a high state rating and an unheaten record of an unprecedented schedule of nine games.
With a nucleus of last year's conference champs hack. Coach Hanson whipped them into shape early and they
showed their promise with a 33-T pasting of the highly-regarded St. Paul Park eleven.
Following this they nosed out a hig tihisago City squad 1-1-T. Really knuckling down to husiness after this scare
the Rangers started conference play. They overpowered North Branch 23-6 and delighted the old grads as they
"Seratched the Cats" with a Homecoming victory over Rush City's Tigers. 20-U.
Moose Lake and Lindstrom-Center City were dashed into the turf of Ranger Field hy scores of 42-6 and -17-T.
setting the stage for the final hattlc at Pine City. at which the Dragons were crushed 12-ll. giving FL another con-
ference championship.
The next game was the fateful invasion of Southwest. Going down like champions, the Maroon and Cold fought
back with 27 points featuring Evgenis 99 yard return of a kick-off in the second quarter to take the lead. But the
home team pounded hack and scraped hy. 31-QT.
ln the finale. the Hangers toyed listlcssly with St. Michael. winning 27-13. to put the thirty mark on a spectacular
season.

school more enjoyable. There are organizations that
should interest every student, whether he enjoys blowing

acting, bowling after school, or cheering for the home

BREEZE
Last year's BREEZE editors, Janice Sahlin and Rick Pepin, head the paper again
this year with the help of Mary Lynn Martz, who fills the new post of Assistant Edi-
tor. Lay-out, headline writing, story assignments and rewriting are the jobs of the
editors, with the help of Advisor Mr. Rafferty.
Popular portion of the weekly paper are the uRustling Leaves" column and Mary
Lynn's cartoons and drawings.

They opened the season with two impressive wins and a rough loss to St.
Paul Wilson. 5-1-32. ln the first conference game. the locals romped over a highly
regarded Rush City quint T5-50.
Vnable to get a streak rolling. the Maroon and Gold dropped one over Christmas.

Underclassmen are the most important part of the student
body, and are responsible for keeping the school functioning,
sometimes smoothly. sometimes otherwise. On these students
rests the responsibility for establishing a class reputation,
breaking records established by former classes, and forming new
policies which will smooth things for up-coming classes.

One of the nicest things about being a senior is the feeling
of excitement and wonder inside him as he tries to guess
what the future holds. The high school senior enjoys a pe-
culiar and enviable position all his own . . . one in which he
is not yet dependent upon himself for support, he has a wide
circle of acquaintances, few regrets, and everything to look
forward to.
