MR. JERRELL PURVIS MR. W. T. MOORE MR. DAVID UNCLE MR. BRYAN SHERMAN HEAD SOCIAL STUDIES DEPARTMENT Learning about the past and the present is necessary so that we may live in peace in the future. Well-versed in current events taking place throughout the world, Mr. Moore teaches his students not only world history of long ago but history that has recently taken place. Mr. Purvis, government and economics teacher, was also assistant coach of the Rebels' football team. Mr. Lingle, coach of the mighty Rebels, makes us proud to be Americans through his American History course. With understanding and good humor, Mr. Sherman taught our Freshmen the history of their State. Mrs. Ward teaches our junior high students the fundamentals of the American way of life through American History. Mr. Giles, Mr. Street, and Mr. Thompson teach history and civics courses to junior high students. MRS. RUBY WARD MR. ELTON D. THOMPSON

MRS. MISS MILDRED THRAILKILL HEAD ENGLISH DEPARTMENT MISS SHARON DUNN (A“ In the world of today it is absolutely essential that we learn good English. To learn one must first be taught and Ole F. H. has top notch English teachers. Sponsoring the Annual, teaching MACBETH, and urging her students to THINK are only a few of the duties of Mrs. Hardy. Mrs. Walker performs the double duties of teaching English and Latin. Interest and Love for her students are displayed by Miss Thrailkill as she teaches and sponsors the Beta Club. Noted for her inspiring devotions, Mrs. Nichols also inspires her students to greater heights in English. Mrs. Gibbes and Mrs. Deevers are doing an excellent job in preparing their students for the more advanced courses in English. Miss Dunn, Miss Clay and Mrs. Barry, whose faces were new at F. MR. J. N. BROCK MR. D. J. THOMAS MRS. MIRIAM GRANT HEAD SCIENCE DEPARTMENT The Age of the Atom and Space is here and our Science teachers are challenging us to meet the demands of this Age. Our own red-haired Mr. Thomas teaches the more advanced courses of chemistry and physics along with a class of ninth grade science. The genial humor of Mr. Core makes his biology classes fun as well as interesting and informative. Mr. Brock, the boys basketball coach, teaches his general science students the basic funda- mentals of all phases of science. Mrs. Grant and Mrs. Wood instruct our junior high students in their science courses. Mr. Sullivan, girls basketball coach, and Mr. Trammel, junior high football coach, also teach courses of junior high science. Mr. Brokaw, director of the band, also teaches courses in junior high science. Mr. Walker, our friendly counselor, constantly stands ready to help the more than 1200 F. H. H. S. Students. MR.
