Forest Hill's victorious Rebels are shown shortly after registering thier initial win of the season over the Morton Panthers 18-13. FOREST HILL 18 MORTON 13 Forest Hill's Rebels won their first game of the season as they upset the powerful Morton Panthers by a score of 18-13 on the strength of a last minute pass from Jerry Tidmore to Bill Hobson, who ran 25 yards for the touchdown. The Panthers drew first blood as the Panther's Jerry Magers raced 53 yards for the score to send Morton into an early 6-0 lead. Morton scored again in the second period when Richardson raced downfield for their second score, to run the Panthers' lead to 13-0. The Rebels then fought back however, and Tidmore went across from the five and the Rebs were back in the game at halftime by a 13-6 score. With Weeks intercepting a Panther aerial, Tidmore then carried across again to make the score 13-12. The Rebs had no intention of falling by a one-point margin as Tidmore un-leased his game-winning pass to Hobson with 44 seconds showing on the clock for the win. Jerome Massey, the Rebels' injured punter, is pictured talking to star quarterback, Jerry Tidmore, on the sideline.

Let go! A bit of the rugged line play of the Florence game is shown here as an Eagle defender stops George Weeks, Forest Hill halfback, for a little gain. Jimmy Carter, number 5, lends his assistance to little avail. FOREST HILL 20 FLORENCE 8 Rebel manager Harris Chandler displays some of the duties of an efficient manager as he is seen doctoring Rebel end John Beasley. Forest Hill's fast improving Rebs found themselves right in the middle of the North Little Dixie championship race when they ran to a 20-8 victory over the previously unbeaten Florence Eagles. With quarterback, Jerry Tidmore leading the way, the Rebs ripped holes in the Eagle line to register their third victory of the year. Near the opening of the contest, the Rebels first scored with Tidmore doing the honors. The Rebs then took an early 7-0 lead. After a Rebel punt, the Eagles then marched again downfield to Rebel territory, this time to score. With Robert Kuhn taking it over from the four yard line, the Eagles then trailed by only 7-6. The attempted P.A.T. was blocked and the Rebs kept the lead. In the second half the Rebs scored two more times, with Tidmore gathering his second and third touchdowns of the night to set the stage for the win. The lone Eagle score of the last half was a safety executed by an Eagle lineman, who caught Weeks in the endzone for the final score.
