In 1955 the Student Council, after careful deliberation, voted to discontinue the out-dated merit award system, substituting in its place a new plan—the Forest Hill Hall of Fame.
In the Hall of Fame the Student Council seeks to recognize the outstanding students of each year's Senior Class.
Every Senior is given the opportunity to apply for membership in the Hall of Fame. Each application is considered first by the Student Council Committee and then by the Student Council faculty committee. Either committee may reject any applicant deemed unworthy. Afterwards the Council as a whole votes by secret ballot for the new members of the Hall of Fame. These deserving students are recognized on Recognition Day.

19The Forest Hill Student Council was organized in 1950 for the purpose of bettering Forest Hill School and student-teacher relationships. Since its beginning, the Council has sponsored many worthwhile projects for the school. Two of the most important projects are those of selecting the Hall of Fame and sponsoring Recognition Day for meritorious awards.

Sbon £)ougfadSchool spirit is prompted at Forest Hill by our newly organized Pep Club. Led by the cheer leaders, it enables students to become more familiar with our cheers, our teams, and our accomplishments in sports. The Hazlehurst- Morton games
The Forest Hill Rebels opened the 1959-GO football campaign with a sound 32-0 thumping over the Hazlehurst Indians. Quarterback Dennis Huffman paced the Rebels by scoring one touchdown himself and passing for three others. The victory string was short-lived, however, as the" Rebels dropped a close 28 to 25 battle with the highly touted Morton Panthers.
A two touchdown spurge by fullback Bill Gore before some 4000 screaming fans wasn't enough to provide the winning margins for the Rebs.

The Canton-Mendenhall games
On September 25 the Rebels entertained another group of Panthers, the Canton Panthers from the Choctaw Conference. Converted fullback Bill Gore, filling in for the injured Huffman, quarterbacked the Rebs to a come from behind 27-21 victory over a highly underrated Canton eleven, scoring three touchdowns and three extra points in doing so.
Then lightning struck as the Rebs traveled to Mendennall to tangle with the mighty Tigers. A late 26 point spurge with Huffman. Tramel, and Peterson leading trie way was not enough. Mendenhall 46. Forest Hill 26.

The Florence-Pearl games
The Rebs next traveled to Florence where they ran roughsod over the highly outclassed Eagles. Three touchdowns by diminutive Scooter Tramcl, two by "Pete" Peterson, one by speedy half back Jerry Tidmore, and a 25 yard scoring jaunt by fullback Gore accounted for the 44-14 victory. In the next encounter quarterback •'Dennie" Huffman ran for three touchdowns in a 57-7 victory over the helpless Pearl Pirates. Rambles of 8 and 56 yards by Gore, along with two touchdowns each by “All Little Dixie End" Bob Jones, and hardcharging back Peterson wound up the nights scoring.

The Forest-Brandon game.
A homecoming crowd of 3, 800 saw the Forest Bearcats pound out a devastating 39-6 decision over the Rebs. The lightning quick backfield of Tramel, Peterson. Gore, and Huffman couldn't muster up a score until the latter pinpointed a bullet pass to End Jones minutes before the half. In the next outing touchdown passes from Dennis Huffman to "Scooter" Tramel and End "Rich" Mills, along with tallies by Gore. Jones and Huffman, paced the Rebs to a 32-13 conquest over the Brandon Bulldogs.

A battling Crystal Springs Tiger team moved into Rebel Stadium and fell victim to a 21-12 defeat by the Rebs. Touchdowns by Jones and Tidmore paved the way for the victory. In the last game of the season Clinton, our arch - rival neighbors down in the hollow, went down a little deeper as a late first period pass from Huffman to Mills spelled a 6 - 0 defeat for the tough Arrows. Thus ended another season, with the Rebels finishing with a fine 7 wins - 3 loss record. See you next year in Rebel Stadium.Maid of Honor

omecomin52Forest Hill had only the Rebelettes to cheer for in the state-tournament play, but the pert lasses won the State "Golden Egg" Basketball crown in 1959.
The usual success of the Rebelettes has not been displayed thus far in the 1960 season because of heavy graduation losses and numerous injuries, but with the steady improvement they have shown under the direction of Coach Dean Walker they shall possibly have another State Champion Team----in our eyes anyway.

With the current basketball season in full swing, Forest Hill, a perennial Little Dixie Roundball power, is once again on its way to another successful season. The highlight of the Rebel season to date was their 36-35 victory over Clinton, which netted them the Hinds County Championship. Sporting an overall 17-5 record at the time of this writing Coach "Dump" Brock's Rebels have been sparked by all Hinds-County and All-Pearl-Tourney star, Bobby Jones. A continuation of their present rate will find the Rebs a strong contender for the State Championship.

Through school, we grow physically, mentally, and spiritually. Our Bible Club provides a time when we can meet together to worship and learn Christian ideas which will promote higher standards in our modern, complex world. The club is sponsored nondenomi-nationally and is open to the students of high school. All members may participate in its programs and activities according to their abilities. Through this club teenagers find a way to walk closer to God.

What is a Senior?
What is a Senior? A Senior is first of all a person, usually a busy person. A Senior perches proudly yet precariously atop a mountain of twelve school years and is a sort of god to all below. Seniors possess an amazing zest for living; everything must be the best because soon everything will be done for the last time. Their enthusiastic cheers and their hurried step in the hall will become only echoes; winning teams they comprised will be no more and each member will take a separate road away from Forest Hill. They cannot stop time; instead they make the best of it. A Senior's task is to accomplish and his obligations are many; annual, paper, committee, and club are all in the daily routine. As "their year" draws to a close with Prom and parties galore, they become the sole owners of Senior cards and maybe a medal or two. Then, too, soon the time will come when a Senior becomes a Graduate and the Class of '60 will close the book of high school years and tuck it away in a very safe and dear place.
