Lorraine Howard "Any Number Can Die" is a comedy mystery by Fred Carmichael. lt's a hilarious take-off of the mystery plays of the late twenties, complete with sliding panels, robed figures, and wills being read at midnight. The idioms, costumes, hair-dos and make-up of the period add to the thrills and laughter. Four ingenious murders take place in an island mansion as the pair of elderly detectives set to work on their first case. The ever-popular storm, the unex- pected guests, the cryptic poem and the missing feet-u-me all add to the intricate and inventive mystery off which the laughter bounces. wigk Q Stage Crew. f v. V, H by fir ':f. was M fs K I-Ii-Times has undergone some changes this yearg a new magazine style has been adop- ted by the staff that allows more artistic freedom in layout design and writing technique. Instead of the traditional four- page newspaper, Hi-Times has expanded to eight pages with more pictures, cartoons, and copy. The additional pages allow "breathing" space which gives the paper a more infor- mal, easy-to-look-at appearance. Hi-Times also has a new sponsor this year. French teacher, Dana Freeney, threw her experience as editor of a literary magazine into the melting pot of Hi-Times talent, and in the process learned as much, or more, about the paper as anyone did. f,f.v:"' f ' 5 Though a lot of things about Hi-Times have changed, many have not. It's still a difficult and trying task to put out the paper, and it still requires a lot of dedication and a modicum of talent. Breaking in new reporters is also hard, and teaching them everything they should know takes time, patience and a lot of printed mistakes. This year the reporters have all been in- terested, eager and sometimes cooperative. In any case, we, as the editors of Hi-Times have truly enjoyed presenting to the students this year's paper, and look forward to the efforts of next year's staff.
