Remember that day The day that Fordland School was enlrvened by the enroll
ment of what IS now the graduatlng class of 19539 There were thlrty three of us then
We were a l1ttle dumb fanyway that s what most people sa1dj but wrth the help of Mr
Byrd we fmally organrzed a class meetrng and elected Irm Clouse for our pres1dent
Bradley Burr for our v1ce pres1dent Norma Swearengln as secretary treasurer and Mr
Byrd for our sponsor Our Prtnce Charmmg and Beauty Queen candrdates were Pat Aron
and Jerry Nash We came rn last Our frrst socral affarr as a class that year was a skat
mg party to Rogersvrlle Skaung Rrnk wrth the compltments of Mr Byrd The school year
was ended w1th the annual school p1cn1c at Dolrng Park
Year 1950 Month September Place Fordland
One year had passed We were a year older We no longer shook when Mr M11
ler or some teacher looked at us All of us but slx had decrded to g1V6 rt one more

secretary treasurer Our class sponsor was the lovable Mr DeWoody whom we lost to
Uncle Sam about the mrddle of the school year That was the year we were honored as
the best class 1n school when Mrs Clough the Englrsh teacher treated us to her home
