Mr. David Lichliter, our respected supervisor, came to our school as
the coach cmd principal ot Hooversville High in 1948 and at the time of con-
solidation in 1950 was appointed supervising principal of Forbes Ioint system.
During Mr. Lichliter's eight years ol supervision our school oliered a
well-balanced extra-curricular program and has striven for high scholastic
achievement.
Through Mr. Lichliter's interest in community, church and school af-
fairs, he has come to be a friend of all and our supervisor deserves the fullest
praise and respect of every student and alumnus of Forbes.
Therefore, on behalf of all the students, we, the graduating class oi
1958, take time out to thank him, for the wonderful job he has done and wish
for him the happiest future possible.

To Miss Sank, our high school principal, we, the graduating class of
1958, express our sincere thanks and appreciation tor all that she has done
for us.
We became acquainted with Miss Sank in junior high school where
some of the students received instruction in geography. After leaving junior
high school we missed Miss Sank during our sophomore year but upon
moving into our new building We found Miss Sank in the worthy position of
our high school principal. She proved not only a good principal but also
a friend in whom the students could confide. Many times we have received
help and advice from Miss Sank which has indeed made our citizenship
and moral standards better.
We know that her philosophy will help us as We go out into the
world cmd for all these things we thank you, Miss Sank.

To our Alma Mater dear,
To the one we hold so true,
We, her children, raise our voice
In song and praise so rightly due.
She has guided us in learning,
And protected us in right.

As we the Seniors of 1958 leave our place in the halls ot our Alma
Mater, We know this place will be ably filled by a very reliable successor,
the Senior Class ot 1959.
We extend our heartiest wishes to this class for the remainder of their
school experiences and hope that they, too, may have pleasant memories
of their high school days spent here at Forbes, just as we do.
Remember to do your best always, in all Ways and you will surely
be rewarded.

Because We, the graduating class of Forbes High, were also sopho-
mores along the way, we realize that the sophomore year can be a very im-
portant and decisive one in our high school career. By this time, we can
usually form a fairly good opinion of what the possibilities of the classes
are and what they will probably do in the future. After observing this class
of sophomores, We can easily foresee that they will ably discharge their
duties as upperclassmen. We are wishing for them the same happiness
and pride in serving Forbes that we have enjoyed.

ol our high school lite is our news-
paper, The Hillside-Aerial. The news-
paper staff includes thirty-two capable
students under their advisor, Mrs.
Iones. The junior high journalism under
the direction of Mrs. Leaf also con-
tribute to the success ot the paper. It is

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
In order to stimulate increased interest in
and respect for outstanding scholarships in
secondary high schools, school administrators
formulated plans for the establishment ot the
National Honor Society. No honor conferred
by the school excels that represented by this
Society. It represents the fundamental ob-
jectives for which schools are instituted and
gives recognition to those who have most
nearly attained the desired ends. This Society
looks upon education as a total product
measured by the tour dimensions of life: Scho-
larship, Leadership, Character, and Service.
We proudly present members of our chapter:
Carol Escherich, Marylin Shaver, Iudy Dinning,
William Maneer, Pat Dill, Ianet Barnett, Shir-

This group, under the sponsorship of Mr. Lawson, has Worked espe-
cially hard at setting up a system of good-will not only Within our school but
also throughout the district and county. Many needy families Were thankful
for the council-sponsored food drive at Christmas. The milk and cookie snack
after each home game resulted in compliments for our-school plus better re-
lations With other schools. On f th
e o e most memorable social occasions of
the term was the annual "Maroon and White" day which will always be a
day ot tribute to our Alma Mater.
All of these things add up to create one of the most active and re-
spected organizations at Forbes.

JUNIOR STUDENT COUNCIL
The junior council governs the junior high classes and is a definite aid
to the senior c uncil by co-sponsoring the milk and cookie project and the
beautiful Christma tree at the Yuletide. Their main project, however, con-
cerned a magazine sale which was better than ever this term. The money
obtained from the sale will be used for material for our school.

Cafe de Paree
"Springtime in Paris" the theme of our prom was carried out beautifully with the "Gay Paree"
cafes cmd Eiffel Tower. The garden and patio added the touch of spring and the lovely colors which
was needed to captivate the beauty ofthe evening. The "ahs" and "ohs" was the repayment for
the work well done by the Class of '57,

FALL FESTIVAL QUEEN
The senior class proudly presented Patricia
McGowan as Forbes representative at the an-
nual Fall Festival at Somerset.
Patty, who has brown hair and blue eyes.
made a lovely appearance in a light blue net
gown at the Coronation ceremony. Along with
compliments on appearance, comments were
also made about the personality and charm
Patty displayed before the crowd.
JZWZ1?
IUDY DINNING
Personality, plus talent and appearance
were traits considered when Iudy Dinning
was chosen as our Maple Princess. Iudy has
not only these qualities but displayed many
more as she made her appearance at the
Cochran Auditorium February 5, 1958.
Our princess brought more honor and pres-
tige to our school when she became runner-
up and Maid of Honor in the actual contest.
After doing a reading entitled "How the Great
Guest Came." Iudy, along with four other
finalists, took part in the personality part of
the contest in which she, especially, displayed
poise, charm, and personality. Iudy who has
green eyes and dark brown hair, looked ra-
diant in a light orange colored gown.

Senior Class who seems to most near-

lete of the class. The athlete named to

been outstanding in all the high school
sports including baseball, basketball,
and football.

FOOTBALL
25 . . . 20 . . . 15 . . . 10 . . . 5 . . . TOUCHDOWN! Yes, Forbes completed another football
series, carrying the pigskin through a season which we consider the best ever, With eight wins and
a lone defeat.
After many rugged practices in all types of weather, our boys came through with so much de-
termination and enthusiasm, that a crowd of F. H. S. rooters went home from eight games with sat-
isfaction written all over their faces.
Consequently, our respect and honor goes to our team of well trained fellows who fought hard
every minute, every game, making football for 1957-1958 a thrill-packed and very successful season.

BASEBALL
Spring is here with the robin and flower. You may be thinking that
the young man's fancy tums to thoughts of love, however in the case of the
boys at F. H. S., it is quite a different story. Yes, the boys at Forbes busily
start digging in the cellar tor a battered baseball and glove. Lugging the bat
over his shoulder, our boy is on his way, with a dreamy look in his eyes, to the
old ballground.
Is this love? ? ? Oh, yes . . . for baseball! ! !

We, the graduates ot 1958 would like to express our deepest thanks
and sincere appreciation to all who helped make our stay in school the
best years ol our lives: first, our parents who gave their most to help us do
our best, then our teachers who guided us with the utmost patience, and
lastly, our patrons who worked hand in hand with our class and helped us
obtain the best education possible. We hope that in the future we will prove
to be a group that you will be proud of in the building ot better schools,
better communities, and a better America,
