The season record was 8-2-1. The team was loaded with talent in both the offensive line and backfield. Within that group were four athletes who were named to the All- County team: Norm Katnik, Dave Shanbrom, Greg Speicher and Bob Spurzem. It was the de- fense that turned the season aroundg they gave up a paltry 9.8 points per game. These factors, combined with the excellent coaching staff composed of Head Coach Lucidi, and assistant coaches Munhall, Crucil, Beatty and Galliner, all contributed to a season which will be fondly remembered. .i I ., V .. -54 A' if isetwi a I s ,wh Gh....,, 'S'-Puma .L H415-w--sg 'REL' X 191 shows his style. ul: Razzle-dazzle s Defense ml: Escalera shows good form. They've brought in new assemblies, Rec and Film nights, and talent shows. The homecoming put on by Cabinet, was one of the best ever. Plus, the Cab- inet has become more involved in the "subjects of the day" such as: the smoking issue, sex discrimina- tion in sports, and voluntary P.E. They also have become involved in the bicentennial spirit of the year through different observances. The Cabinet has learned to work well as a group and they have enjoyed it all immensely. It was easy to adjust to here, although there are some differences between my life here and in Sweden. My hometown, with 8,000 in- habitants, is situated on the countryside and my school, with 350 students, has a completely different educational system. Transportation, social life and climate are also different. In California I can do the things I love like going to the beach or skiing. I have also had a chance to travel around to different parts of the state. My year here with A.F.S. has given me a lot. Not only have I learned about a new country and another language, I've also learned more about Sweden and myself. The JV Tennis team has brought forth some promising players, including Kirk Wills, Scott Fretwell and Craig Meengs. They aimed for their 9th straight league championship and seemed to have locked it up early in the season. No other team has ever earned more than 5 pts. out of a possible 28 from this year's squad. Hopefully, the Varsity team will be paced by these fine players next year. 4 'Sa li- uni Pi ,J ,AF ,ky - aa-.u ,, -I-- , 258 l l S 4 an 5 . . Coach McWilliams says "This has got to be 0116 of 1jl1C best TlC3,1'1'1S ever, here at Foothill." Coach Mac attributes' this great season to his team's depth and it's young athletes. The Varsity, led by jeff Vanl-larte, Doug Younkin, Dave Hobby, and Rick Culverg are 3, 3, 5, and 6 over par respec- tively. They have polished off their opponents with outstand- ing scores like 30-6, 32-4, 34-2, and 36-0. The junior Varsity and Frosh-Soph Teams, under the lead- ership of Eric Lane, Paul Anderson, Dave Greenwood, and Ken Collins, have both played remarkably.
