Fontbonne Academy has presented an ideal
to us for four years. The importance ot' achiev-
ing this ideal has been placed even before aca-
demic accomplishment. That ideal is the con-
cept of a truly valiant woman.
Valiant women! A listing of them would run
like a litany crowned by the most gracious name
of Mary Immaculate.
One woman to whom we ovve special tribute
is Mother St. John Fontbonne, spiritual mother
to our teachers. the Sisters of Saint Joseph.
She was in every sense a valiant Christian
woman: her zeal, her wisdom, her courage have
come down through the years as a spirit which
marks the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint
Joseph.
Because we have been inspired by this spirit
of Mother St. John Fontbonne and her spiri-
tual daughters. we dedicate FONTBONNE. our
first yearbook. to all the Sisters of Saint .loseph
of Boston. Through sacrifice, labor. and prayer
they have erected Fonthonne Academy: but
what is more important. by the example of
their devotedness. selflessness. and generosity
they have implanted in us the seeds of what
we also aspire to be-valiant women.

Each day We
Behold the Senior! A blue lace veil and a
cherished class ring mark her outwardly.
Marylikeness, grace, and diligence mark her
inwardly. She thinks back fondly to the sim-
plicity of the Advent ceremonies, Christmas
foyer programs, meaningful Offertory pro-
cessions. She has thrilled to the success of
unique chemistry experiments, epic strug-
gles with Vergil, breath-taking basketball
games. The 1958 Senior has willingly set her
jaw for choral, suffered a becoming anxiety
over newspaper and yearbook deadlines.

SODALITY UF OUR
LADY
Since 1955 the Sodality has offered a
challenge to its members, enabling each
member to increase in her devotion to our
Blessed Mother.
The primary aim of the Sodality is the
sanctification of each member, the sancti-
fication of her neighbor, and the defense
of the Church. The Sodalist tries to foster
these aims by a closer union with Christ
and His Mother.
Weekly meetings consist of the entire
group broken down into smaller units. In
these smaller units the Sodalists attempt
to aid one another toward living more
profitable lives spiritually.
The affiliation of the Sodality of Our
Lady of Good Counsel with the Prima
Primaria of Rome occurred on Septem-
ber 24, 1957. This brought to a realization
a great desire of all Sodalists. Then, hav-
ing passed a two year period of probation,
the Sodality members made their first
temporary consecration on December 10,
1957 in the presence of Father Lawrence,
O.F.M., Cap., the spiritual director. This
temporary consecration to Mary marked
a milestone in the Sodalists' aim toward
complete dedication to our Blessed Mother.
In unit meetings Sodalists discuss problems of
daily schedule, youth apostolate, and personal
santification.

The Seminar in Todays Problems provides the

FOREIGN
CORRESPCNDENCE
The Foreign Correspondence Club aims to develop
an understanding and appreciation of other peo-
ples, members with us of Christ's Mystical Body,
by writing to friends in lands afar. Small groups
are striving for this through the comparative
study of the home life of various nations.
LE CERCLE FRANCAIS
Exclusively a senior organization, the French
Club's main purpose is to increase knowledge in
those areas not stressed in the regular class
period by means of skits, films, essays, and re-
cordings. Needless to say all meetings are con-
ducted "en Francais."
Patricia Iorio, secretaryg Virginia Coghlan, treas-

LATIN CLUB
"Wisdom and grace through God"
is the motto to which the members
of the Classical Club set their ideals.
To gain a more intensive knowledge
of Roman life, customs and lan-
guage is the chief aim of the group.
Among the activities of the year were
a Roman fashion show and a study of
Roman myths.
MATH CLUB
To glorify God by stimulating in-
terest in mathematics is the main
purpose of this club. The activities
of each meeting, such as conquering
the once-considered invincible slide
rule, examining the binary and quina-
ry systems, and becoming acquainted
with the art of topography have bu-
sied many students.
SCIENCE CLUB
The Science Club was inaugurated
for the purpose of making known to
its members some of the vast secrets
of nature. Frequently at the meet-
ings, one particular field of science
was demonstrated by films. A month-
ly paper containing articles and
views on science problems enables
the members to develop clearer un-
derstanding and appreciation of what
scientists have discovered and are
discovering.

We come to the end of the wonderful story of our
last year at Fontbonne-the story of the "good foun-

been another influencefmuch deeper, much older,
much more a part of us-the love and trust of our
parents.
In October the Fontbonne Fathers Club was or-

students to share their interests with others. Their
monthly meetings included Mass, breakfast, and a
