Adults are expecting more and greater things of our present day
students than were ever expected of them. There is more to learn,
and you are not only expected to learn more, but in addition learn it
better.
Yot' might rightly ask--"Why should we have so much more ex -
pected if us?" When our parents are asking for shorter work days for
themselves, why do they ask for longer school days, and school years
for us? I
The obvious answer is not available, but the obscure one might be
that adults have not met the challenge to their satisfaction and they,
recognizing the seriousness of the future, pass this challenge on to
you. The future of our nation and our way of life rests with the stu-
dents of today. What will you do with it?
beneficial--to you and your future.

The opportunity to receive an education is often the most over-
looked privilege in a democratic society. Occasions for significant
and meaningful learning experiences are often sacrificed for the
whims and shortsightedness of immediate ease and pleasure. The
sacrifice of citizenship and reputation can never be balanced by
pleasure and comfort. Make your high school years your most

HISTORY
The Class of 1961, embarked upon four years of high school on September 10, 1957. Filled with expectations
for our freshman year, we elected Jay Barker, president, Dean Bliss, vice-president, Billie Barton, secretary, Bob
Bishop, treasurer, and Joe Orosco, sergeant-at-arms. During the year we sponsored the annual Tolo Dance and a
dance to raise money for the football lights.
Our sophomore year was highlighted by the Sophomore Hop. Our officers were Dean Bliss, president, Scherrie
Atkinson, vice-presidentg Nancy Paulus, secretary, Alice Clayton, treasurerg and Louis Dudley, sergeant-at-arms.
Dean Bliss, Georgia Bowdre, Sharon Baxter, Margaret Farquhar, and Bill Watson led us through our exciting
Junior year. The Junior Prom and the Junior-Senior Banquet were our major accomplishments.
At last, we reach our Senior year, a little worse for wear, but filled with excitement. We will long remember
our senior year and the fun we had on the Senior Teach Day, Senior Skip Day, and at the Senior Ball. On June 9,
1961, we received our long awaited diplomas.

The annual Junior Prom, presented by the Class of 1962 was
an earthly heaven. Amidst fluffy pink clouds Sherry Huey was
crowned queen. Her attendants were Pat David, Nancy Florence,
and Linda Smith.
Drifting along to the music of Ken Roth's Octette, the stu-
dents of Folsom forgot their worldly cares and concentrated on
having a heavenly time on "Cloud Nine."
"Don't step on my toes." "Your Highness."

HISTORY
On September 2, 1958, we, the class of '62, began our exciting
freshman year at Folsom High, Ray Puckett, Royle Carrington, Martha
Webb, Jill Mero, and Larry Grimes led us in sponsoring "Oriental
April," the annual Frosh dance.
Mike Stefando, Bill Bloodworth, Cecile Moore, Vicki Keith, and
Larry Grimes were our leaders through our stupendous sophomore year.
We sponsored the Homecoming Dance and collected class dues in
preparation for our big junior year.
With our newly acquired status as upperclassmen, we had a junior
year which was a knockout. It was highlighted by our successful Junior
Prom, "Cloud Nine," and the Junior-Senior Banquet.
Now, as we approach our final year, with three fabulous years
behind us, we are anticipating an unforgettable senior year.

tember 8, 1959. As freshmen we were led through a
very new and exciting year by: Mike Mardesich, Presi-
dentg Mike Crites, Vice Presidentg Vicki Steinman, Sec

the annual Tolo Dance which was very successful.
Fun, fun, fun is the only way we can describe our

great fun as well as the School Picnic that we sponsored
Now, looking back over two exciting years, we are
looking forward to our Junior year with wonderment and

The El Oro staff began to work on the year-
book early last summer with the selling of ad-
vertisements and weekly Wednesday night
meetings. Regardless of the good intentions of
all, these weekly meetings sometimes turned
into social gatherings. However, a lot of hard
work was done and by the time school rolled
around, the staff had the yearbook well on its
way.
The biggest event of the year for the staff
was the staff picnic when they were able to see

Pat David
Princess
This year Folsom took a team of Juniors and Sophomores to the Kendall-Arnett Tournament. In the opening
round Thursday night, the strong Placer team fwho went on to win the championshipj trounced the Bulldogs
70-35. Friday night, Folsom came back to defeat the Nevada Union Miners 73-59, setting a tournament scoring
record. On the final night, the Bulldogs fought their way to Consolation Championship by downing E1 Dorado
54-33. The team chose Pat David for their princess, and the captain, Steve Hagan, was her escort. Steve shared
a trophy with Woods of Nevada Union for single-game high-point man, at 23 points. Pat was named one of four
outstanding cheerleaders at the tournament. Folsom High can be proud of the games turned in by their team and
the fine showing they made at Auburn.

As the E1 Oro went to press, the F.H.S. Bu11dogsQhad just begun
their season. The new baseball coach, Mr. LePage, started out with
a few returning lettermen from last year 's co-championship team
and some promising men from the J.V. squad. The potential was
there, the outlook was good, and the boys hoped to win their share
of the games. X
