The e1ghth grade seems to have been a happy, falrly uneventful year M1ss Dean from Falrhope and Mlss Shaver were our homeroom teachers, and We had study hall for the fxrst tlme The glrls had M1ss Shaver for then' PhyS1C3.l Educa t1on teacher and we learned the meanmg of the term Udl'9SSl.I1g out' The next year we were thr1lled to death at bemg able to choose some of our subjects Engllsh, CIVICS Physlcal Ed Sz Health were reqmred, and we had a cholce of Agrlculture or home Economlcs Alabama Hmstory, a.nd Mathematlcs Our homeroom teachers were Mrs Whlte and Mrs Robmson We had a number of new students from Elberta It was our duty to g1V9 the Prom when we were Sophomores We sold maga zmes and sponsored glrls basketball games to ralse the funds We lured Chff Wheeler and has orchestra to furnlsh the muslc and decorated the aud1tor1um to represent an Easter scene Thls year we had our flrst opportunlty to elect cheer leaders, and we chose Elame Bryant from M153 Shaver s sectlon and Jean East burn from Mrs Morgan s From Summerdale had come qu1te a few new students It d1d not take them long to become acquamted, however, and we soon began to feel that they were old fr1ends Blll DeLoach was our presldent when we were Ln the eleventh grade Our home room teachers were 'Coach Meredlth and Mrs Howell They h lped us put on the .Tumor Semor Banquet at whlch Bobby Davls was Master of Ceremonles The theme for the Banquet was aclrcus and the audltorlum was full of confett1 stream ers balloons and pennants We ordered and recelved our class rmgs th1s year and had qulte a b1t of trouble gettmg everytlung stralght about how much was due on them Some of us lost them promptly' To represent our class as cheerlead ers we chose Franc1s Lewls and Betty Reynolds Sh1rley Fltzgerald, a new stu dent who had come to us from Brrmmgham, was chosen as May Queen to represent Foley School Jn the annual May Day celebratlon H1 Daphne Senlors at lastl At last the prlvllege of bemg f1rst to get out of chapell I Th1s year was qu1te a full one for most of us w1tl'1 cred1ts to make up, Sl.X weeks Econ themes and the lmke not to mentlon all the extra currlcular act1v1t1esl We were busy glvmg the Senlor Play and preparmg for graduatlon too Among the many thmgs whlch stand out 1I'1 our year are the Football Banquet Kld s Day the J un1or Semor Banquet and Sophomore Sen1or Prom the Senlor Play preparmg the Annual and the many, many electlons whlch we held!
