fS Memorial Collet -15800 N.W. 42nd Ave iVliami.Fla. 33054 THE ARCH Florida Memorial College St. Augustine, Florida Volume 13 1967 The Alma Mater As the breeze through moss-hung trees Seems to sing thy sacred name, Thy sons and daughters love to spread, O ' er all the land thy well-earned fame ! We love thy halls, coquina walls, And thy friends who gave thee birth. The truth we learned as each heart yearned For higher, nobler things on earth ! Should future years bring joy or tea rs To thy name we ' ll e ' er be true, To thee we pledge our loyalty And dedicate our lives to you! Chorus Florida Memorial ! Florida Memorial ! How we love to sing thy praise. We ' ll be loyal, ever loyal, And for thee our voices raise. Hail and Farewell " ... all experience is an arch where- through Gleams that untravelled world, whose margin fades Forever and forever when I move ... " Our experiences at Florida Memorial College this year can be reviewed as we turn the pages of THE ARCH, and smile happily. Each page tells a story, a story that has created a part of our lives and has prepared us to travel to the world beyond our coquina Arch. The moss-hung trees, the coquina walls, the faculty and staff, the classrooms, the activities, our going to and fro on King Street, and above all FMC ' s philosophy of Christian ethics and the principles of democracy — these will cause " a spontaneous overflow " of emo- tions, emotions that will recall our abundant life at Florida Memorial College. We — the pictures on these pages — are the person- ification of Florida Memorial College. All hail ... and farewell ! Lambda Iota Tau was established in 1953, there being over 55 chapters today in this country, Canada, and Japan, all of them devoted to " the recognition and promotion of excellence in the study of literature. " The letters Lambda lota Tau stand for the motto of the society, " The word gives form to the idea. " The insignia consists of two crossed quills over a shield, on which is a gold bend sinister with the Greek letters L.I.T.; in the upper portion of the shield is a gold torch of learning; in the lower portion a gold chain of fraternal unity; under the shield is the motto. The official colors are purple and gold, for the magnificence of literature and Keats ' " realms of gold " into which it takes us.
