Foreword In this presentation of the sixth Florida N. I. M. C. annual is a panoramic view of this great institution. Starting as the Florida academy in 1892 this institution has evolved from a normal school of a few stu- dents and a plant valued at several thousand dollars to a four year A rated college with a million dollar plant and an annual enrollment of over 500 students. From the beginning of her history, Florida N. I. M. C. ' s capable leadership has determined the continual progress in the phenomenal de- velopment of this institution, Dr. Gilbert and Dr. Collier laid the foun- dation upon which the college reflected the greatness of the potentialities now being developed. From 1950 up to the present time President R. W. Puryear has been at the helm. Realizing that the progressive Philosophy of education in- sists upon an increasing awareness that new times demand new mea- sures. President Puryear instituted the ten year plan with a long range formulation of curricular provisions and physical expansion for Florida N. I. M. C. Through its program of education in service, the Florida N. I. M. C. now provides for her constituency course offerings in the field of re- ligion. Education at Florida N. I. M. C. will continue to challenge educa tional endeavor in the fullest possible development and uti- lization of the capacity for leadership. It is to the realization of this hope that the Florida N. I. M. C. annual will seek to contribute as a record for our wonderful year spent here. Perusal of the pages will always carry our thoughts back to the administration, faculty, our classmates and the extra- curricular and social affairs enjoyed beneath the moss hung trees. We are to never forget this Normal we know not in ' 56. Foremost in our minds will always be the fact that of Gods greatest works on earth we have Florida N. I. M. C. After we have completed our course here at the college and the years have rolled on, our classmates have disappeared; we may give a sigh but from time to time we can pick up our annuals; for the camera has captured the heart warming beauty and magnified the flour- ing thought, of our fond past.
