Tradition Broken : A J unio Ileigns at Ilonnecolning Everyone participated in the 1970 Home- coming to make it a big success. Several weeks before the activities began, Student Council announced that each class could enter a float to be judged in the parade. Classes worked hard and the results were well worth their efforts. The Sophomores took first place in the contest with the Freshmen running second. . Homecoming Week was brought to a close by a Pep Rally downtown on Thursday night. The Band, Cheerleaders, and Pompon girls added lots of spirit and the crowd joined in the cheers. After several songs and cheers, everyone went back to the school where there was a bonfire on the football field. More cheers were yelled and then the football play- ers were introduced. Friday afternoon there was a parade downtown. The band led the parade with th class floats following. Another pep rally wa. held and the parade headed back to school. The climax of all the events came durin halftime when the Homecoming King an Queen were crowned. The candidates wer as follows: Joe Felix and Dodi Ramire Seniorsg David Padilla and Dawn Frizzel Juniors, Gary Moore and Carolyn Lippert Sophomoresg and Greg Celaya and Rhond Pope, Freshmen. The winners were Kin Joe Felix and Queen Dawn Frizzell. Also, at halftime, the classes of 1950 an 1960 were honored. The band made specia formations and members of the classes wer introduced. That night, after the game, dance was held in honor of the Homecomin classes and the 1970 Homecoming King an Queen.
