Varsity Ball CATCHERS: Charlie Ruiz, Henry RODRIGUEZ Having experience in 8 out of 9posi- tions, 10 returning lettermen, a last year's season record of 10-8, and afine coach as Coach Turner, FUHS can't help but have high hopes for this year's team. We will also find the Gopher team witha number of outstanding players. In the pitching department we have Rudy Ruizg in the batting department there is Andy Jimenez, David Silvas, and Jamie Ang- leyg and in fielding, Frank Ce1aya,David Celaya, Eddie Ortega and Richard Mon- tano have considerable experience. The JV squad also anticipates a good season this year. They are under the super- vision of Coach Whittaker, who is the newest coach at FUHS. Coach Turner has spent most of his life in Arizona. He graduated from Tuc- son High and attended the University of Arizona, where he majored in physical education. This is his fourth year as varsity coach. The first year his Goph- ers won three, the next year six and the last year ten. Even when the score and time were against them, they never gave up fighting for the ball. This often by a narrow margin, showed their ability to think and act under pressure, an important asset for the varsity team next year as most of the starters for the JV's will move up. Mr. Cy Henry, the coachofthe JV squad, is the 6th grade teacher at the elementary school. He is a graduate and former athlete of FUHS and therefore lmows the tough competition that the team was up against. We, the members of the annual staff and the members of the J V basketball team, say thank you, Mr. Henry, for your time and devotion in making the JV basketball team of '71 a good team. ll
