Louie lillartinez, J r. Oh, the blow hits so hard and life seems to stand so still. We think back, then we try to push our thoughts forward. But, nothing, nothing seems so undesirable as the future. Tragedy is the loss, the uncontrollable loss that makes us wonder and remember and desire for all those moments of sharing which will no more be. Tragedy is not a lasting thing, yet for some it can shape their lives or be their lives. We can make of tragedy what we want to make of it. For some it is a grand friendship to be rememberedg for some a tragedy is a dismal exis- tenceg for still others it may be a prevention of another tragedy. We have been hit by the greatest tragedy -- that of the death of some- one who had so much to live for. It will be hard to accept the future without him. We will not be able to forget this tragedy. So be itg but let us never forget the memories we shared. For those are the great memories that can calm this tragedy, and make the future a little easier to accept. Louie Martinez was born in Florence on April 29, 1952. He lived in Florence most of his life, attending Florence Elementary and Junior High Schools. After graduating from 8th grade, Louie became a member of the student body at Florence Union High School. During the three years Louie was at Florence Union High, he was active in many clubs and sports. He was treasurer of Thespians, treasurer of FFA, active in Pep Club, Spanish Club, Lettermen's Club, and a mem- ber of the Football and Baseball Teams. In his Junior year, he was a member of the Class B State Football Championship team and played the linebacking position. He was respected as a leader and provided much of the spirit for this year's team. Louie's good-natured disposition and sense of humor will be remem- bered as the unique qualities which he possessed. The good times we had with him and the memories of Louie's pride, loyalty, and friendship will live in the hearts of all of us forever. David Felix and Peter Feliz
