The 1978-79 Prom was held a distance farther this year than previous years, yet gave the same memorable feeling to each person there. Held in Pueblo West, Prom had the theme Love Is In the Air”, and had Sterling” back to supply their rock music. The only charge this year was to have had junior and senior class dues paid in full which was a treat for many. 1. Love was in the air for these prom couples. 2. Dates enjoy the closeness of each other during their dance. 3. Royalty for the '78-'79 Prom was Cora Snyder, 2nd attendant; Dave Smith, king; Carla Espinoza, queen; Jackie Laughlin, first attendant. 22

1. Special interest students display their disco talents. 2. The rapids presented quite a challenge to the FHS seniors. 3. Seniors, Lisa Mares and Karen Roberts found out the hardships in camping out while on the rafting trip. 4. Artists find a landscape for their special interest in art and landscape. 5. Former FHS students aided the disco dancers.

Now, as we head into the final year of the decade, diversity seems to be the catchword and the new waves of dance and disco seem perfectly capable of coexisting, appealing as they do to widely separated audiences. But most of all, the profitable impressions of the music in movies and scenes about music seem certain to become increasingly important in youth’s lives. Dances became satisfying outlets at FHS. 23 1. All couples needed to take a break from the prom excitement. 2. Sterling performed once again for a special occasion. 3. The queen and her date pose closely for a picture.
