As the nation got up off its seat and danced, so did Florence High. Snowball, a traditional dance sponsored by the Men’s F-Club provided excitement with the royalty; Rick Kenagy as king and Debbie Meyers as Queen. The band Split” played music mostly of rock and disco, two sets of the most innovative sets of music of the year. 1. Snowball Royalty has the honors of exchanging carnations. 2. Couples enjoy the beat of a collage of music. 3. Split” performed with a fine appeal of music. 17

As the Apple Day festivities got under way the crowd began to grow as out of town guests filled main street in Penrose to watch the town parade. Reigning over the years festivities were three Florence High School students. Queen Kathy Duncan and attendants Tami Hazelton and Peggy DeVor. 16 Of the fifteen girls that tried out for Apple Day Royalty only three made it. Kathy Duncan was chosen the winner as last years’ queen, Donna Doxtater crowned her. Another important event was Pioneer Day, held in Florence. It was enjoyed by many.

1. Sweetheart Royalty was called for a take between dances. 2. To make the night a success, the band Rocky Mountain entertained with top hit music. 3. Sweethearts dance to a fast, energetic tune. With the disco fever hitting just about everyone, there was constant craving for the lights, mirrors and dance floors. Sweetheart helped provide these with Kim Barnett as Queen and Cecil Pennebaker as King. Through the night, music was played by Rocky Mountain” and came to a halt at midnight. Also, Jeanette Mata served as Sweetheart princess and John Sanborn as the prince. All in all, the scene Sweetheart gave was quite a memorable one.
