HUSKY SPORTS YEAR FOOTBALL: The Florence football team climaxed a successful season by reaching the state semi-finals before bowing to Windsor 20-0 after defeating Jefferson in the quarter finals 14-6. Florence took second place in the league behind Fountain but advanced farther in the playoff than Fountain. Florence had two all-conference selections—Tom and Pete Hay. WRESTLING: The Florence wrestling team had an undefeated season, winning 10 matches without a defeat and also won the Sargeant invitational tourney with 96 points. Florence then took the Pikes Peak tourney with 123 points and eight championships and finished second to Thornton in the district tourney placing three champions. Florence took tenth place in state1 and had one individual champion—Tom Hay. BASKETBALL: Florence finished third in league play but came back with first place in the tourney at Colorado Springs by upsetting Castle Rock in the semi-finals and Fountain in the championship. In the state tourney, Florence ran into Akron in the first round and Eaton in the second round. Both ended up champions, first and consolation respectively.
