Departments left behind in Building B after the
big shuffle took a deep breath and spread out.
The guidance department acquired a room of its
own, and the cafeteria expanded into the bleachers
of the girls' gym.
Art classes moving out to the old ag area left
behind two classrooms. One became an English
room, and the other took the overflow from the pub-
lications department. Journalists Work like veterans
about o professional semi-circular copy desk.
A miniature house was moved into the school
and took up residence in the enlarged shop rooms.
All boys taking the electricity course are required
to wire the little house correctly to pass.
The library moved down to occupy the back of
the old study hall and gained a periodical room
and an office for the librarian.
. FOR A LESSON IN PRECISION Danny McAllister, iunior,
occupies the remodeled and enlarged shop rooms. Mr.
McGeel1e does the teaching.
. STOPPING FOR A CHAT with Mr. Collier, Phyllis Hedge
and Danny Riggle test out the faculty table in the new
wing of the cafeteria. The tables and chairs are new
this year, too.
. YOU WOULDN'T DARE! Newly installed fire alarms are
spotted all through the building. Everett Pittman knows
that if he lets this hammer fall and break the glass he'lI
get into water hot as the fire. He isn't going to.

Atter careful planning and months of hard work,
the contractors gathered up their tools and lett us
to our dream come true - our new Building C.
From pages of blueprints had emerged an imposing
structure of steel and brick with walls of'windows
across the south to catch the winter sunshine.
The auditorium with its big stage, its galaxy of
spotlights, and its seating capacity for 700 is the
glamour spot ot the new building. Debut time came
at Christmas with the annual cantata.
The agriculture and music departments were able
to move into their new quarters at Christmas.
Both band and chorus gained large practice
rooms, small rooms tor individual practice, and lots
ot storage space.
. "OUR LAST YEAR and its first," comments Barbara Hardy,
Ccenterl senior class vice-president to Christine Whelan,
secretary-treasurer, and John Heath, president, as they
chat about the newest bronze plaque at FTHS.
