Forever, NEW ---L _______________r How can such deep-imprinted images sleep in us at times, till a word, a sound, awake them? — Lessing 5 Golden memories are gathered from year to year. The Hurricane staff strives each year to provide an effec- tive record of the year's events. For the past fifty years our yearbook has displayed several different titles Green White — 1937-1939, Flomascope — 1940-1947, and Hurricane —1948-. Many changes have taken place in these fifty years. However, the golden memories continue and their indelible images become a permanent part of our lives. J------------------ 6 Dost thou love life? — Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made Franklin Each year brings Flomaton High School many new faces as well as many new goals and achievements. FHS has taken several steps for- ward in looks, scores, and academics. Our logo, uniforms, and mascot have been a definite eye- pleaser for students and alumni alike. The football team, with its undefeated season, has given a brighter hope for the future. Academics now include an honor's diploma program, advanced courses, and for the first time an Advanced Placement American History Course with possible col- lege credit. Every past year takes a golden place in our memories just as every future year is given a golden place in our dreams. 7 (fa£de t 'Tfiy it tyicutcuUtott %6 ▼ ▼ Valedictorian Chris Brown and Salutatorian Dee Dee Brantley challenge members of the graduating class. ▼ ► Upon receiving their diplomas, john. We want our youth to have a fighting chance to be all that they were created to be' We want them to know they can stand on their own two feet and make their own decisions about life Abusing drugs is like catching the football and run- ning across the wrong goal or cheering. We want a touchdown. When the other team has the ball or a bandmember marching left when the rest of the band mar- ches right it defeats the purpose of life itself In addi- tion to the plants the Sheriff's Department has been involv- ed in the arrest of 140 people on various drug violations it's not because we enjoy the threats or having our houses burned down, nor is it because we enjoy fighting the summer heat, flies, gnats, snakes, spiders and RED BUGS' The Escambia County Sheriffs Department cares about Escambia County's young people' We are working hard for you , states the sheriff, and although you may not appreciate it now. we hope that someday you will, because WE RE PULLIN' FOR YOU!! Good luck tonight, and may God's blessing be with you Timothy A. Hawsey, Sheriff Escambia County, Alabama hD DIRGCTORY Atmore Ready Mix Bank of Brewton Brantley's Tires, Inc. The past is composed of memories laced with those golden steps we take along the way. The year 1986-87 has been no exception. We have grown and seen the achievements a school organization can, with pride, accept. This year has brought with it many golden memories to add to the past and these memories in turn provide experience which may improve the future. Scholastics, as well as ex- tracurricular events, have bet- tered our way. The Hurricane '87 serves as a guide to the remembrance of this past year so that nothing is lost in our minds' forgetfulness. The staff closes this 50th edition of the Hurricane with the hope that each of you will see your own hopes and dreams as FOREVER OLD, FOREVER NEW. Autographs Taylor Publishing Company ilns
