While at clinic, they received two excellent ribbons, two superior ribbons and a super squad ribbon. They learned cheers, chants, partner stunts, jumps, and how to achieve squad unity. One person that has helped to make all of this possible is their sponsor Mrs. Ann Jackson who also received a superior ribbon at clinic. 99 ’85 Hurricanes 2A Area 2 Champs Make Playoffs At one minute after midnight on August 1, 1985. the F.H.S. Hurricanes began to brew after a summer of extensive weight training and exercise. For weeks the team had punted, passed and reviewed plays and at last they were ready to make landfall. On the eve of Elena, (another hurricane not nearly as fatal) the Hurricanes stormed the Conecuh County Blue Devils. Side by side throughout the season the Hurricanes romped and stomped leaving havoc in their path. Each week the Hurricanes grew mightier receiving only four losses, until in a frenzy they took the Area Championship and advanced to the State Playoffs. Unfortunately, by playoff lime llur- rican season was over but 1985 had been recorded as The Year of The Hurricane” for the school as well as the area. Robert Cash (33) searches for open field. Goals were set and achieved. Dreams were realized. The moments of this past year have included all of us. We, as students, must work to maintain the quality and high stand- ards that have been achieved in this past year. May we accept the challenge to constantly perpetuate the pride and spirit we have helped to build. Next year always holds a new beginning.
