Running Back 81 Flomaton 20 Conecuh 0 In this season opener the Flomaton Hurricanes used a steady running attack and a powerful defense to storm past the Blue Devils. Touchdowns were scored by Shannon Lambeth, James Allen, and John Fields. Flomaton 12 J. F. Shields 6 Jeff Upton scored the first touchdown early in the first quarter. Shields came back later in the quarter to tie the score 6-6. At the end of regulation time, the game was still tied at 6-6. In the overtime period, J. F. Shields had first posses- sion but was unable to score. Flomaton took over and on the second down, Jamie Strength found the end zone to give the Hurricanes the victory. Flomaton 7 Blacksher 20 Flomaton's first season loss was at the hands of J. U. Blacksher. The Hur- ricanes got on the board first with a one yard run by Ronnie Hammond. The point after kick by Shannon Lambeth was good and the score was Flomaton — 7, Uriah — 0. Uriah came back in the second half to score three times and cap- ture the win. Flomaton 0 Red Level 7 The Hurricanes struggled valiantly against the larger and faster Red Level Tigers during the Hurricanes' Homecoming game, but lost by a single touchdown and extra point. Flomaton 8 Earnest Ward 7 The Hurricanes defeated the Earnest Ward Golden Eagles in a game that end- ed in a 0-0 tie and went into overtime. The Eagles got the first overtime posses- sion and scored on their first play. Shannon Lambeth and Scott Hammond scored on Flomaton's third down, and a bootleg run gave them the two-point conversion needed to win. Flomaton 0 Georgiana 13 Flomaton Hurricanes lost to Georgiana and consequently lost their chance at making the play-offs. Had they won, their place would not have been assured, but the loss put them out of the running. The Hurricanes fumbled one time for one turnover, while Georgiana had no fumbles. Flomaton lost 85 yards on nine penalties and Georgiana lost 50 yards on six. The Hurricane team had poor field position all night. Flomaton 14 Jay 7 Jay scored first on a 70-yard pass play at the top of the second quarter. Exactly six minutes later, John Fields carried 14 yards for six points. Shannon Lambeth's point-after kick tied the score at 7-7. In the third quarter, on fourth down and one yard to the goal, Jamie Strength went up the middle for the score. Lambeth's kick was good once more and Flomaton clenched the lead 14-7. Flomaton 21 Frisco City 12 Flomaton scored 15 points in the second quarter and six in the fourth while Frisco scored both touchdowns in the second quarter. John Fields made the first touchdown on a one-yard run. Lambeth's kick was good for the extra point. Scott Hammond made Flomaton's second TD on a 75-yard run. Ronnie Ham- mond took the ball on the next play and scored the conversion. In the fourth quarter, Ronnie Hammond connected with Scott Hammond for a 26-yard touchdown pass that put the final score on the board. Flomaton 0 Century 32 Good kicking and defensive play helped the Century Blackcats crush their crosstown rivals, the Flomaton Hurricanes, during the Century Homecoming game.
