Har- monious living depends on good communication between individuals, groups, states and nations. The study of English teaches us to express ourselves in understandable terms. Along with expression of our ideas comes the painstaking chore of learning correct usage. MR. JOHN L. FOLSOM Principal mr. McArthur hines Assistant Principal Mr. John L. Folsom has been principal of Flomaton High School for twelve years. He received his B. S. degree from Livingston in 1951, his M. A. degree from the Uni- versity of Alabama in 1952, and his AA Certificate in 1968. Serving as guidance counselor and administrator, he has many duties to perform; nevertheless, he is always ready to give his earnest attention to those who need it. The 1969 HURRICANE staff wishes to recognize Mr. Folsom's outstanding zeal in serving both the school and the community. His courage of convictions and his sincer- ity are outstanding characteristics of his personality. Our trustees, Mr. Leon Holt, chairman, Mr. Fred C. Miller, and Dr. Ralph H. Rose, have served Flomaton High School with faithful and dedicated service. These three men are charged with the responsibility of guiding the school through its difficulties and suc- cesses.

All mankind's actions of today are based on what happened to him yesterday. History conserves the best man has done so that future generations do not have to struggle along the same discouraging path, but may pick up where one generation left off and go on to new successes. Through understanding history we become better citizens; are able to vote more intelligently and do our duty as creative, useful members of a democratic society. When our leaders become good students of history, then America can take her rightful place as a leader of nations. MR. GODWIN
