Slaght wwi t A native of Chicago, Illinois, Commander Ken Slaght received his U.S. Navy commission upon graduation from the United States Naval Academy. Previous assignments at sea include tours as Combat Information Center Officer aboard the frigate USS GARCIA (FF 1040), Operations Officer aboard Commander, Destroyer Squadron FOURTEEN, Operations Officers aboard the frigate USS EDWARD MCDON- NELL (FF 1043), Engineer Officer aboard the amphibious ship USS TULARE (LKA 112) and Executive Officer aboard the guided missile cruiser USS GRIDLEY (CG 21). Ashore, Commander Slaght attended the Naval Destroyer School and the Naval Post Graduate School. He has also served as the Division Director for Automation at the Navy Recruiting Command, Washington, DC and the Division Director for Plans and Programs in the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington, DC. He is married to the former Susan Carol Otterson of San Francisco, California. With the " BOSS " , Rear Admiral Toney Executive Officer Joe N. Stafford Lieutenant Commander Stafford reported to FLINT in August 1986, having previously served as an Inspector for Commander in Chief, U.S. Atlantic Fleet Propulsion Examining Board, Norfolk, Virginia. He has been with FLINT throughout deployment, myriad inspec- tions, Drydock Phase Maintenance Availability (DPMA), Post DPMA and Refresher Train- ing work-ups. The deployment to Western Pacific and Indian Ocean was the acme of his tour. LCDR Stafford has had prior sea tours aboard USS MILWAUKEE (AOR 2) as Opera- tions Officer, aboard USS COMTEDE GRASSE (DD 974) as Engineer Officer, and aboard USS FRANCIS MARION (LPA 249) as Second Division, Auxiliary and Repair Division Officer. Service ashore include an assignment as Instructor at Surface Warfare Officers Schools Command, Newport, Rhode Island. LCDR Stafford received his commission from Officer Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island, in August 1974. A native of Georgetown, South Carolina and a graduate of the Univer- sity of North Carolina, Lieutenant Commander Stafford is married to the former Caroleen Delores Wilson of Portsmouth, Virginia. r J i Deck Department Rudy C.
