The first groduoting closs of thirteen mem- bers didn't weor cops ond gowns, ond the school presented eoch grciducite with o rose corsoge. The oldest school trodition which hos been corried on to the present centers oround the Flogstoff which beors the closs colors of eoch yeor's grciduoting closs. This trcidition wcis stcirted with the closs of i925 with the bronch of o tree os the flogstoff. Mr. J. Q. Thomos wos principcil ond super- intendent during the first few yecirs, ond the first principol wos Mr. J. P. McVey. Mr. Micke joined the FHS fciculty in the foll of '24 os o tecicher in the 8th grode. At thot time he still wcis blessed with hoir which covered his entire heod. In the eorly l92O's the two big trees were plonted in front of FHS os smoll bushes. The whole school wos present ot the impressive Arbor Doy progrom. Physicol educcition clcisses were required then os they ore now, except thot then they were held cifter school, with just one closs for girls ond one for boys. Ecich yecir improvements hove been mode in our school system, ond todoy we hove o fine school, when the buildings now in progress ore completed, it will be even better. We, the closs of '48, wish to express our opprecicition to Flogstoff H i g h School for the greot service it hos done in the post 25 yeors. We know thot it will continue to progress in the future os it hos in the post. We express our thonks ond cipprecicition by dedicoting this i948 Kinloni to twenty-five yeors of service which Flogstciff High School hos given. V When the high school moved from Emerson High School to the present lo- cotion, Miss Olive McNerney, moved with it. On thot first school doy with the ground sloppy ond muddy, she wolked the school woll which todoy hos o sidewolk beside it. For twenty five yeors she hos worked foithfully ond un- selfishly for the students in FHS, trying to help them in every woy. ln oddi- tion to her other duties she storted os girls' physicol educotion teocheir ond hos hcid mony good teoms to her credit. She sponsors the Spcinish Club ond the oirls' hiking club,,ond through these we hove come to know onother side of her we didn't meet in the clossroom. Though her yecirs of service ore long, her hecirt is still young os thot of ony of the students. To Miss McNerney. the only teocher who hos been in FHS for oll its twenty five yeors, we extend our grotitude ond oppreciotion for her long ond foithful service ond ci job well done. The only other person who hos remciined with Flogstciff High School for thEse'I25 yeors is Wick B. Thompson, who is now heod jcinitor of the city sc oo s. Wick hos not only performed his duties faithfully during this quarter of o century, but he hcis been o friend of the students ond fciculty... He will olso long be remembered for his foithful service ond o job well done.
