Henceforth I ask not good-fortune, I myself am good-fortune, Henceforth I whimper no more, postpone no more, need nothing, Done with indoor complaints, libraries, querulous criticisms, Strong and content, I travel the open road. (2 OT) 1 62 SOCCER Coach Casassa has been dealing with the problem of inexperience for his inany years of very successful coaching. This year the job seemed insurmountable with only a handful of experienced players coming back and with only two seniors, Jim Catalini and Ed March - and. Between injuries to their goalie and the inexperience afield. Coach Casassa and Captain Catalini did an admirable job in fitting the pieces together. Captain Catalini and goalie, sophomore Dave Kiernan, held the defense together. Leading the offense along with Marchand were Bobby Hunter, Jim Miller and Donnie Starr. 4§0m v 63 , ' .. Coach Lee Cunningham kept his team running from the start of the first practice right through to the end of the season. Bright spots on the team were the playmaking of senior guard Barry Finneron and the scoring of senior forward and Co-Captain Gary Nelson. Helping out on the rebounds were Co-Capt. Tom Kirklauskaus and senior Jack Cunningham. Rounding out the team were Pat Murphy, Don Kelly, Bruce Fisher, Mark Southworth, Pete Sardelis and senior Dave Locke. A crew better known as ' Murph " , ' Hornet " , " Spook " , " Fonsy " , " Mai " and " Dave " . Coach: Lee Cunningham, Co-Captains: Gary Nelson, Tom Kirklauskaus, Barry Finneron, Peter Sardelis, Patrick Murphy, Mike Merrily, John Cun- ningham, Bruce Fisher, Mark Southworth, Phil Langerstrom, David Locke, Pete Breton, Don Kelley. ® " ( Z l v Hfl ' i l ik ?i 42 1 I ,1 50 V if I 4 " 67 inhhi k i V 68 Jill hHH rvu ; ■m 69 ■H Coach Norman Carson, Richard Johnson, Bernie LeClair, Dick Tiernan, Pete Breton, Frank Baron, Bob Gillis, Bob Goss, Don Starr, Charlie Callahan, Bob Ciavola, Ray Clifford, Chuck Farara, Howie Sherman, Dave Kiernan, Dave Hay, Guy Hillander, and Dana Andrews Mgr. Coach Carson, a rookie at the helm directed his forces as best he could, utilizing Seniors Bernie LeClair and Richie Johnson to their fullest potential. LeClair and Johnson led the team in all but a few statistical departments. They were assisted ably by such regulars as Frank Baran, Dick Tiernan, Donnie Starr, Bob Ciavola, Dave Kiernan, and Senior Ray Clifford. Rounding out the team, were the very able underclassmen. 70 M ■ MMSi HH mm wmmm m h PS »; . ■ I: if . £ CffJHlHWwwn 71 i 72 i .-» I K lffilSfSSW ■mm HM M TENNIQ 19G7 Coach Donald Franciosi, John Andrews, Tommy Turner, Brad Lawson, Steve Cornwall, Dan Duphill, Dave Mails, Mike Jacques. TRACK Although one of the least publicized of all sports on campus, the F.S.C. track team compiled the best record of all varsity sports. Under the cap- able eye of Coach Settle the track team ran to a record of 4-0 in State College competi- tion and a seasonal record of 4-1. Standouts for the team were senior Ray Bouchard, high sc orer, and junior Bob Day who set a new N.E.S.C.A.C. record in the javelin throw. Coach Settele is hopeful of an unblemished record this year with a promising crop of fine freshmen. CROQQ COUNTRY- 19G 7 Coach Settle has started Cross Country at F.S.C. and like all children during the early stages they are weak. The team did not win any meets, but the important thing is they started and they competed. However, all is not dark for the harriers; senior Lennie Amburgey took two firsts in the three meets that he ran in. Lennie captained the team this year which was made up of senior Michael Santerre and underclassmen Fred Huxley, Dennis Poul- iot, Phillip Knowlton, Ed Willwerth, Gary Grady.
