Despite its fragile appearance this sturdy plant can grow through the stubbornnest of rock. Much in the same manner knowledge can break through the rock of superstition and ignorance to produce a delicate blos- som. It is for this reason we are proud to take this flower as our college symbol and to lend its name to the pictorial record of our college activities, commonly known as the " Sax. " 1 1 .
