May courage, truth, and honor Forever be our aimg As we press onward toward the goal, Let's always play the game. CHORUS All hail to our Alma Mater, The home of F. T. C, Which stands a guiding beacon, A cherished memory. Our colors green and silver We always will uphold, And mount them where they may be seen, They never will grow old. Let thirty-six press onward With tread that's firm and sure, And know that glory of success To win, we must endure. With stalwart hearts and willing We'll gladly do our part To help our fellow-friends along, And loyalty impart. SllHlFHtlil3il hands Trrentf 1

History of i936 The class of '36 has distinguished itself by consistently initiating and advocating measures which resulted in greater freedom for and better cooperation among students, and clearer understanding between students and faculty. Under Mr. Carpenter's wise guidance and under the capable leadership of our ofiicers we have made significant progress. We have been aware, for a long time, of the need for a publication which would give students a medium for self-expression. The senior class took the initiative, assumed a large share of the responsibility, and, in conjunction with the faculty and students, launched THE HICKORY STICK . Everett McCue as Editor-in-Chief is, in a large measure, responsible for laying the foundations and assembling an almost technically perfect, promising college publication. Perhaps the most significant and far reaching measure which the senior class has helped to promote is student cooperation in assembly planning. Not only the officers but individual seniors have worked unstintingly to put this plan in working order. As yet, all of our activities are in the nature of experiments but we feel sure that we are working in the right direction. Whenour school became a college, we realized that there were certain traditions which would have to be surplanted by new ones. In keeping with this idea, we abolished the plan of each class choosing a different ring, and selected a rich looking setting which from this year on, will be the standard ring of Fitchburg Teachers College. We feel that, in doing this, we add to the meaning of the ring. In athletics, we have worked to bring our sports to a college level. Even though, as in the case of hockey, our ambition sometimes exceeds our ability, we are definitely on the up grade. The worth of the class of '36, we trust, will not be judged by those things which will cease to function when we leave, but rather by those attitudes and Outlooks fostered by us which we hope will infiuence future classes and help them to live fuller lives.
