Let ' s look back and remember the beginning . . . long speeches, a buffet luncheon, and moving in on a sunny September day in 1975. We were each unique, yet each the same, all experiencing feelings of trepidation, confidence, excitement, and anticipation . . . overwhelmed with meeting the house council, letting the rules sink in, learning how to sign in and out, how to work the combination locks, when to use the 116 entrance . . . Feeling alienated from the commuters . . . appalled at the vets . . . feeling aggravated on registration day over long unending lines in Aud. I, the 108 lounge and the bookstore, where our longed-for classes were already filled, our I.D. cards were not in the correct pile, and the much needed Anatomy book was no longer in stock. Feeling refreshed on the outing, bored on the bus tour, relaxed at the coffee house, and a little bit exhausted but happy. Yes, at last we belonged . . . classes became routine. As time passed we began to feel more secure and able. Long climbs to the typing room and short- hand lab; even longer walks to MCO and the clinic soon became all part of a day ' s work . . . There were little things, too, like . . . mixers, a 50 ' s hop, Fathers III, Wentworth parties, Romanos . . . DeLuca ' s . . . Dino ' s pizza . . . and then there were big things like the October fire - it affected everyone - the commuters were pushed out of the Student Union, the dorm students smoked out of their rooms. Skit Night . . . funny, exciting, tiring, worth all of these feelings especially to the the commuters . . . Secret Santa Week . . . mysteriously hiding gifts . . . happily finding them . . . learning the identity of your Secret Santa . . . exam week . . . tense, sleepless nights, exhausted, triumphant, smiles going home for Christmas ... a trip to Nassau . . . Parents ' Week- end . . . internship and minicourses . . . In the spring, relaxation was found on the roof - sun bathing - in the esplanade, sailing on the Charles, at a Bosox game, a night at the Pops or at a concert in Bicentennial Boston . . . special feelings came with packing to go home . . . saying goodbye to the seniors . . . promising to keep in touch over the summer . . . those months flew by . . . before we knew it September was here . . . moving back . . . meeting the freshwomen . . . starting all over again . . . All kinds of feelings rushing through us . . . the thrill of being seniors brushed aside with the pressure it put on us . . . but pressure wasn ' t the whole of it . . . There were more adjustments to make . . . more pleasures ahead . . . a super-terrific prize winning skit for 104 . . . semi-formal . . . the Bermuda trip . . . The Charles Viewer. . . . senior banquet and the long-awaited graduation, yes, we made it. we were each unique, yet each the same. We were all here for the same purpose . . . each one of us pursuing some hope, dream, or ambition . . . each choosing Fisher for a different reason . . . each living for some goal yet to be achieved . . .
