Fife's Class of '57 had an extremely active year as it sought to put the finishing touches on its pattern, to have it completed by June. Now that the pattern is finished, the seniors view it with pride. During its sophomore year, the Class of '57 won the Pep Jug. As the Junior Class, it took first prize in the Home- coming Parade, put on the Junior Class Play, and gave the seniors a beautiful prom entitled Sand and the Sea. This year the entire class bought student body tickets. ln the Spring, announcements, cards, and pictures were ordered for graduation. The Junior-Senior Prom, given by the Juniors, lived up to our expectations and was enioyed by all attending. Guiding the pattern toward completion was Robert Oquist, Class Adviser, Richard Keniston and Marian Young, Assistant Advisers. The Seniors now have their pattern to be used as a guide the rest of their lives. 'Elissa We, the Class of '58, can look behind us and see our carefully woven pattern--an outline of very successful activities, honors now and then, and a great deal of fun. Observing our pattern more closely, we tind in our store of memories so many ot the things which have mode our Junior year such a memorable one. First there was the ASB ticket sale in which we rated IOOCML Then there was our homecoming float which took first place in the parade. Among the many dances which we sponsored, the Valentine Dance with our Queen ot Hearts , and the truly lovely Junior- Senior Prom in honor ot the seniors were outstanding. To much ot our success and guidance in shaping the outline of our pattern we give credit to our class adviser, Mr. Ronald Douglass. As our junior year comes to a close, we look ahead and know that, as seniors, we will weave with the same enthusiasm and high hopes o pattern as bright as the one which we look back upon so proudly. The Sophomore Class, under the supervision of Mrs. Jean Ghilbert and Mr. Stan Peterson, began the year with the election of class oFficers. Those elected were Tom Yotsuuye, President, Bob Pagh, Vice-President, Diane Mur- rey, Secretary, JoAnn Lindberg, Treasurer, Lois Crawford, Publicity Manager, Dallas Blair, Business Manager. Student council representatives were Bar- bara Muir, Joanne Dunn, Karen Reed, and Carol Kvamme. As in any newly elected group of class officers, the financial problem was the first matter for consideration. Class dues, a dance for the senior high, and the concession stand at a football game solved this. Also the Sophomore Class sold the Trojan Guide books to the students. The sophomore students were well represented in extra curricular activ- ities, including sports, FFA, FHA, Trojan Knights, Troianettes, Drill Team, GAA, Pep Club, and Torch Club. Four sophomores-JoAnne Lindberg, Dar- lene Arnold, Margie Jones, and Judy Gilbert-were chosen as song leaders for the basketball and football teams. With the motto Not at the Top, but Climbing, the Class of '59 will do well in the next two years. S 20 ROW 1: Tom Yotsuuye, Pres., JoAnn Lindberg, Treas. Everyone enioyed planning the Mother- DOUQMGF TSG- These girls filled the Thanksgiving Baskets. GIRLS' Altering the Pattern might have been the theme of this year's Girls' Club as the organization, under the guidance of Miss Agnes Dunn, strove to diver- sify the program which the club has followed for many years. New variations were added to two of the club's three major activities. The entire student body sup- ported the Thanksgiving Baskets, and the Easter Egg Hunt, held for the Kindergarten, reached unprecedented popularity. The lovely, ever-popular Mother-Daughter Tea was held in the spring of the year. An evening tea and fashion show, to which all parents were invited, was added to the curriculum during the winter. Officers for the year were Kathe Lyons, Presi- dent, Gerd lsaksen, Vice-President, Carol Kvamme, Corresponding Secretary, Marilyn Vargo, Recording Secretary, Bev Yamamoto, Treasurer, and Donna Risley, Student Council Representative. TUDE T COUNCIL The Student Council has completed a very successful and prosperous year under the leadership of our student body president, Joan Geving, and with the assistance of the student body officers, Student Council, and the entire student body. This was a year filled with activities. The first maior project of the Student Council was the activity ticket sale which proved very successful when the total sales reached a record-breaking 97'Mw. Other highlights of the year included Homecoming during football season, a carnival, the Christ- mas Ball, and the Roaring 20's Dance. During the fall our student body president was honored by being given the opportunity to lead a discussion group in the Student Leaders Conference at the University of Wash- ington. This year for the first time the new student body ofticers received gold pins in recognition of their services in the Stu- dent Council. Mr. Marvin Belknap, our high school principal, is the Student Council adviser. His interests and suggestions have proved helpful in the most successful year our student body has known, and it is to him we are indebted. BOARD The main obiect of the Junior Tuberculosis Board is to make the public more aware of the causes and cures ot the dreaded disease, tuberculosis. An adviser and three rep- resentatives from local schools attend regular monthly meet- ings, at which they plan and carry out various health activities. In November a representative from each school entered an article on tuberculosis in his school paper. These articles were iuclged and a prize was given to the writer ot the best article. Christmas saw us making favors for the children's hospital and in January we visited the Children's Orthopedic Hospital. Our year ended with a visit to the Occupational Therapy classes at the College ot Puget Sound. STAGE CREW ROW 1: E. Riebli, M. Jones, D. Arnold, B. Yamamoto, S. Forslund, J. Coffman, S. Wingren, .l. LAO DAM IAN S The Laodamians, Fife High School's drill team, suc- cessfully completed its tenth year of activity under the direction of Mrs. Bernice Gransback. The first appearance of the Laodamians was made at the Federal Way-Fife football game in September. We also performed at two other football games and three basketball games. Of course Fife was represented in the annual Daffodil Parade in April, which was the major performance of the drill team for the entire year. Marching wasn't the only activity of the drill team. We were responsible for the beautiful tolo held in the spring, one of the most successful ever give The annual banquet in honor of the old and new offi- cers was held near the close of the year, at which time old ofhcers were relieved of their duties and new officers began planning ways to make the following year's drill team as successful as was the '56f'57 team.
