OC DIVISION Comprised of the Signalman (SM) and Radioman (RM) rates, the men of OC Division are responsible for communications, both electronic and manual. The Radiomen han- dle all manner of electronic communications, including maintenance of a myriad of different types of antenna onboard FIFE. From simple family grams to high priority task- ing messages, the RM ' s ensure the word is gotten out. The Signalmen are responsible for visual communications between ships, including semaphore, flashing light, and international flag codes. OD DIVISION OD Division, commonly referred to as 1st Division , is comprised entirely of the Boat- swain ' s Mate (BM) rating. Deck preservation, underway replenishment, helicopter deck operations, operation and maintenance of the ship ' s motor whaleboat and captain ' s gig, marlinspike seamanship, anchoring and mooring evolutions are all in a days work for the BM ' s of 1st Division.
