This year was a trying one for the Ferndale Revue Tickets Going erndale ag e Q Volume 1, No. .4 4: E R N D A L E E A G L E A Mai-ch 16, 1959 Hard working editors Bruce Rogers and Isaac Schulz look over reporters' copy for a special issue of the Ferndale Eagle. Eagle and its staff. For the first time in ten years, work on the paper was on an extra cur- ricular basis. With moving complications pre- senting themselves at the beginningof the school year and subscriptions only totaling 620, the Eagle Staff had a hard time making ends meet with a budget of 32000. Led by advisor, Miss Alice Jorgensen, and editor Bruce Rogers, the staff consisted of as- sistant editors Margo Coffman, Pat McLean, and Isaac Schulz. An excellent job was turned in by sports editor Tom Hunter and advertising man- ager David Bockoff, The rest of the staff con- sists of fifteen students and photographer Bruce Plaxton. Bob Tomsettf Alan Mach, Dave Holmes, Larry Mohler, Allan Pollock, Norman York, Thomas Martin Mr. Adrian Pollock, advisor. assigning stories to reporters three weeks before publication The stories are checked headlined and fitted into layout The articles are then sent to the linotypists and returned as proofs The Editorial staff can now revise layout and paste up pages as they are to appear when finished Then the Mechanical staff takes over com pletely They set the headlines fold stuff count and distribute to teacher s mail boxes. Th1s staff is also an extra-curricular activity for boys who work after school and during study halls running presses and setting type.. The Eagle is an essential part of Ferndale High School. Members of the staff look forward to a better student response in years to come. Q. MEET THE ALPHA STAFF If The life of a year book advisor is never easy. just ask Mr. Reilly! As official helper and censor for his ambitious little students, he had a good deal more than his share of headaches, Missed dinners, late hours, and frayed nerves were also his portion. The members of the Alpha staff wish to convey their hopes for his recovery. so 4 Where are the proofs? Did the copy come back? What's going on this page? There's a dead-line tomorrow!! Such were the cries to be heard daily in room 334, home of the harried members of the Alpha Staff. It took a great deal of work to turn out a yearbook having the size and scope of the Alpha. In it, we have tried to cap- ture some of the most memorable mo- ments of the year and to show especially how our new school has affected us.
