DEDICATION MRS. NELLIE KOHUT The Reflector staff has decided among ourselves to dedicate the yearbook to someone who is always there after a game, a practice, or any other late night func- tion; someone who does a lot of the “dirty work” around the school with little recog- nition from the students. We dedicate this year’s Reflector to Mrs. Nellie Kohut. Mrs. Kohut’s ten years of service to the district has been appreci- ated by not only faculty and staff but also by those of us on the Reflector staff who have given her extra work because of late night meetings, opening doors and clean- ing up the “Burger King messes”. Mrs. Kohut, we thank you for all you have done, and your work is greatly appreciated. Dedication

IN MEMORY OF.. . MR ROBERT BOERETLER The seniors of the Reflector staff decided that not only should this yearbook have a dedication but it should also have been a memorial page for a very special teacher who recently died. Mr. Robert Boerstler, “Mr. B”, was a Fern- dale graduate in the year 1946. He continued to be a part of Ferndale by coaching wres- tling, directing school plays, and teaching Social Studies to students at Ferndale. This years senior class was the last class in which he taught, so we would like to remem- ber “Mr. B” for his wild ties, his funny pic- tures on the boards, his unique stories, and for all the rewards for getting A’s. The mem- ories of Mr. B and all the things he did will remain with us for a very long time. In Memory Of

SCHOOL BOARD Shortly after the 1889 flood, the community of Fern- dale began to develop. The one-room wooden school, which opened in November of 1889 was replaced in 1912 with a new brick structure. The first graduating class of two students occurred in 1919. Since that time, the district has grown considerably and has gone through many physical and curriculum changes. The school board is the driving force behind these changes. Members are to be recognized and com- mended for their time and effort. Ferndale Area School District has come a long way since 1889 and will contin- ue to advance with the guidance and decisions of our present nine board members.
