EVERETT C, SANDERS Administration This fine yearbook in your hands, unlike most material things of life, will not depreciate but will gain in value through the years, The events and incidents which this book may help you to recall willalso change in value. Perhaps some of your recent worries will later seem trivial or even laughable in the future, and some inconsequential experiences may sometime seem of great importance. Whatever may be your feelings, I hope that you will always recall your highschool days with satisfaction and pride. AndI particularly hope that Ferndale High School can always be proud of you. EVERETT C, SANDERS SUPERINTENDENT handles matters of business and school policy As the years pass, each group of peopleleave an imprint or set of footprints of their accom- plishments on the sands of time. Our current generation is no exception. During the past de- cade we have seen the Hydrogen Bomb, Atomic Submarine, Sputniks, Intercontinental Ballistic Missilesand the population explosion each leave an indelible mark. The generation emerging during the 1960's has a tremendous challenge to solve the problems associated with these events, Only an educated citizenry can cope effectively with the problems ahead. Only an educated citizenry can survive the challenges and leave their footprints as working solutions to their prob- ‘lems of this complex age. This is your chal- lenge, Class of 1961. Some of the qualities they possess include a sincere interest in education, ability to think independently, and ability to work cooperatively. There is only one legal requirement for a school director, that he be a qualified voter in his distirct, but there is an important ethical requirement - a sincere and honest desire to conscientiously serve the school and to remember that schools exist for the bene- fit of boys and girls, DWIGHT H.
