One of the most important organizations
in the high school is the Student Assembly.
It is recognized as an honor to be chosen
as a representative to this body. One rep-
resentative and one alternate are elected
from each third-hour class except for the
study hall and chorus, from which two rep-
resentatives and two alternates are elected.
Through the Student Assembly, the stu-
dents may have a voice in the governing
of school affairs.
When a person is selected to be a rep-
resentative, he automatically becomes a
member ot one of the Student Assembly
committees. There were ten committees
this year, three of which, the Ethics Com-
mittee, the Public Relations Committee, and
the Civil Defense Committee, were newly
organized in l953.
With Tom Bindbeutel as president, Bob
Olds as vice-president, Pat Brewer as sec-
retary, and Dave Young as treasurer, the
Student Assembly met every two weeks
to discuss all problems which arose in the
homerooms and which were brought to the
meetings by the representatives.
The sponsors of this year's Student As-
sembly were Miss Eileen Smith, who has
been working with the students for the
betterment of Ferguson High School since
T944 and Mrs. Marian Sniften who has also
been a sponsor of the Student Assembly
