NORTH CAROLINA TAKE HEED MY FELLOW BRONCOS Tradition has it that every editor or staff should convey a message to the University family. Since I am not one to revolt against tradition I have undertaken this task. At a time when everyone ' s mouth is open but ears are closed, who can tell any- one anything. Who can tell anyone anything now, when life is so complex and vain. I don ' t know why I would even think that you will listen to me, when you won ' t listen to the warnings of your maker. I once heard that if you holler loud enough and long eriough, someone will hear you. So, what I want to say to you people is " Take a Look Around. " Just for today take a look around you and see who and where you are. Do it just for today, maybe it will help you see tomorrow better. Austin A. Wolfrey, III Editor-in-Chief Just for today, I will try to live through this day only, and not tackle my whole life problem at once. I can do something for twelve hours that would appall me if 1 felt that I had to keep it up for a lifetime. • ,.- _N -N • % .i Just for today, I will be happy. This assumes to be true what Abraham Lincoln said, that " most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be. " .ifii Just for today, I will try to strengthen my mind. 1 will study. I will learn something useful. I will not be a mental loafer. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration. Just for today, I will adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. 1 will take my " luck " as it comes, and fit myself to it. % Just for today, I will exercise my soul in thre somebody a good turn, and not get found i least two things I don ' t want to do — justj I will not show anyone that my feeling they may be hurt but today I will not « Just for today, I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress becomingly, talk low, act courteously, criticize not one bit, not find fault with anything and not try to improve or regulate any- body except myself. Just for today, I will have a program. I mav not follow it exactly, but 1 will have it. 12 A I will save myself from two pests: hurry and indecision. ii Just for today, I will have a quiet half hour ail by myself, and relax. Just for today, I ' ll be unafraid. ■; i - Especially I will not be afraid lo enjoy what is beautiful and to believe that as I give to the world. 18 Miss Lampoda Sandra Galloway Miss Pyramid Remelle Melvin Miss Omega Psi Phi Tanya Hardy 26 Miss Beverly Barbee Miss Delta Sigma Theta Miss Sherlton Edwards Miss Tau Phi Tau Miss Linda Cotton Miss Tau Phi Theta Miss Deborah Fuller Miss Iota Phi Theta 27 ■ ' » Miss Jenifer Springs Miss Tan Phi Cocoa Miss Rebecca Baines Miss Cocoa Phi Cocoa Miss Beverly Jones Miss Groove Phi Groove 28 . Wolf rev Well, I a few others. Let me emphasize that " few others " . When 1 became editor of the staff in October, I had a list of a supposed to be staff members, consisting of 31 names. Only five out of that 31 even did a tiny iota to help the progress of the book. These people are Pearlinc, Lula, Deborah Wright, Pearalee Hodges, and Joe Williams. To these people I extend my greatest thanks. To Mr. A. M. Rivera and Dean J. C. Jones, I to extend my greatest thanks. To the others I ' d like to extend to you something that a mouse would extend to a cat hanging from a cliff, begging for dear life NOTHING There are three young men who came in late and helped me as they could. These people are Mr. Frank Duprec, Mr. Larry Robinson, and Mr. Gilbert Foust. Thank you fellows. There were two beings who stayed by my side hand in hand during the progress of the book. Without these people I wouldn ' t have made it. These being God, and my girl. I just hope whoever is the editor of next year ' s book will have more to work with than I did. I know I haven ' t said too many good things in this letter, and that ' s the way I want it to be. It wasn ' t peaches and cream for me. I layed oul every page of this book. I took 73% of all the pictures in this book. I developed 56% of all the film used in making this book. You think I did it for kicks? No one with a staff of 31 people should be expected to do this, but I did. I don ' t want any medal, and I also don ' t want to hear any complaints, because if you had ideas you could have given them, if you wanted to help me you could have helped ne. It takes more than a few people to publish a book, I mean a " good book. " So it you have cbmplaints make sure they are not pre- valent in the next issue because this one is Austin A. Wolfrey Editor-in-Chief wm Sharon McDonald Miss Thelma Loraine Webb (couldn ' t have done it without her) If there was a word that could describe these two people, I ' d write it here — . i — but there not one yet in existence, thank you, Mr. Joseph (Kool) Williams and Miss Pearalee Hodges.
