B, Little is thumbing through the new edition of the Amethyst at the
Yearbook Party in the gym. There's a scowl on his face as he looks at each
page. He grumbles and mutters under his breath.
B. Long next to him has an expression of delight, He turns the pages
of the yearbook eagerly,
B. Long: "I didn't reali7e there were so many ways that old FHS is
trying to make good citizens out of us. Guess l'm getting sentimental about
the matter since its near the close of school."
B. Little: "Good citizens! Don't see any around here."
B. Long: "Plenty of them right there on the second page under the
picture of the high school, boys working in the shops-and just look at
that picture there in the corner, that's the Student Council putting toys
and food under the Christmas tree for the Goodfellow's Drive. Look right
above it, see those kids in that refreshment line at the party, you don't see any
shoving or grabbing do you? That shows good citizenship doesu't it?"
B. Little: "W'ell-maybe." "Anyway look at the pictures on this page.
They look terribly dull and uninteresting."
B. Long: "Look at these pictures closely and you'll see what a wonderful
time everyone is having. The one on the left shows students at the school
party. That deck student is always busy running errands for the teachers
and principal. Good sportsmanship, which is a big part in being apgood
citizen, is shown by the play day flag out in front of the gym, This flag
is the result of the winner of play clay which is a day of fun and good
sportsmanship for everyone."
