Nineteen eighty five was a year of change as much as the previous year had been. The new building was com- pleted, and while Dr. Heffernan had put many of his changes into effect last year, more came this year. Ef- forts became biweekly, and the advi- sor system was changed, so that stu- dents no longer chose their own advi- sors. The day student lounge was opened, and made available during the day. The dining hall acquired a new look, changing over to all round tables, and the study hall was no long- er a place of mass confusion during activity period. The new homerooms took over, and after activity, you wer- en ' t always going to sports; you could be going to any one of a number of activities, such as art, computing, photography, or pottery. Adding to this atmosphere of change and excitement, there was an extensive array of visitors who brought many talents and treated the school to audio-visual extravaganzas . . . Robert Cormier, author of The Chocolate War and I Am The Cheese, visited the library to discuss his writ- ing with students, and later shared lunch with them. Dr. Story Musgrave, a participant in a recent shuttle flight, also visited the school to captivate both students and parents alike with an informative talk and slide show. A select group of admissions officers and our own Mr. White gave a semi- nar for ninth graders and their parents on how to choose the right secondary school. 90
